These are not a health food. These are not superfoods. These are not enhanced with healthy things for the sake of healthiness. These are decadent, rich, wonderful morsels of blissful joy that are meant to be enjoyed occasionally as a treat. A big plus of this mix is it comes with a double batch (enough to make a 9×13 pan instead of an 8×8″ pan of brownies). I also like that the ingredient list is short and sweet with recognizable ingredients. However, the texture and flavor just didn’t deliver for us. There was a very strong flour taste and they really didn’t come across as chocolatey. We didn’t finish them, and neither of our kids wanted to finish theirs. Sugar - Granulated sugar gives us pure sweetness. These baked brownies are sweet but not too sweet. Do not use brown sugar.

If possible, use room-temperature ingredients -The ingredients mix better and coat the flour better. It not only adds sweetness to the brownie, but it also helps to achieve the lovely, crisp exterior on the outside of the brownie. So yeah, remove the sugar at your own risk! Can I use other sugar apart from golden sugar in this recipe?

I used the Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Flour. I didn't have milk, but used Coconut milk. Everything else was the same as the recipe with choc chips. They came out awesome! My husband who needs gluten free ate 3 right away before even cooling off! That's a good indicator that they were great! Taste: Sweet, but not chocolatey. Very strong flour taste. They tasted like they were made with chocolate flavoring but no actual chocolate. Could probably be improved with some mix-ins.Certifications: Certified Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Certified Vegan, Kosher Pareve, Allergy Friendly (free from 14 of the top allergens). A standing mixer with the whisk attachment is great for whisking the eggs and sugar until pale, but I prefer to use an electric hand whisk, personally.
