Having read Saving Sophie, which I absolutely loved, Sam Carrington has once again written a superb psychological thriller. Bad Sister delivers a fascinating storyline along with excellent writing and all the twists and turns you would expect, and then some!! The investigation into the dumped body is led by Detective Inspector Lindsay Wade who is struggling with her guilt over the mistakes she made during the Sophie Finch investigation.The chapters alternate between Lindsay and Connie Summers plus there is some chapters that are set in the past and also a number of italicized chapters which are voiced by a unknown person. Bad Sister is the first book that I have read by Sam Carrington. That will be remedied next year in my plan to catch up on books that I have fallen behind on. I can’t work out if is a series but at least one of the characters appeared in the earlier book. Stephanie is running from her past. Even though she is under witness protection, "he" has found her. It was her testimony that put him away in a youth prison when he was but 8 years old ..and now he wants revenge. Her psychologist, Connie Summers, wants to help .. they even have things in common ... like they are both living under assumed names.Sarah Greene as Bibi Garvey, second youngest sister of the Garvey family. I have a student this year that is really into graphic novels. She asks me almost every day if I have anything new to read. When the answer is yes, she devours whatever it is in record time and rereads it a time or two for good measure. She's been through all the graphic novels in my classroom library and the school library. She is a reader, through and through. Accordingly, I've been buying up new books for her to enjoy a few at a time since the school year began. One of those was Bad Sister, a graphic novel/memoir by Cherise Mericle Harper. No, ‘Bad Sisters’ is not based on a true story. Neither is the television series an adaptation of a book. Instead, the series is based on the Flemish series ‘Clan’ created by Malin-Sarah Gozin. The original series (titled ‘The Out-Laws’ in the UK) follows the lives of the Goethals sisters, who try to free their sister from her tyrannical husband, Jean-Claude “De Kloot” Delcorps. The British adaptation of the popular series changes several character names and general settings but mostly follows the same general storyline as the source material. While there is not much information about the conceptualization of the original series, it is likely a fictional story and not based on true events. At the start of our journey through the three sisters lives, the scene is set in the prologue when we’re in 1993. Deely is 9, Devon is 13 and Maxie the eldest at 17. Straight away we are introduced to their childhood and the secret that determines how the sisters react to the world around them. Having read thousands of books in my life, I have never encountered anything like Bad Sisters. It was part English parlor game, Yankee drinking game and a mind-numbing story.
