Vitamin C is an effective way to make your hair lighter, thanks to its citric acid. Bodt regularly tells clients to try vitamin C washes. "That one is easy. You crush up some vitamin C, add it to a spray bottle and spritz it on. It brightens hair and removes mineral build up," she explains. Choose Sun In® Super if you have blonde to medium/dark brown hair and want instantly noticeable highlights. Because apple cider vinegar is so much gentler than, say, lemon juice reacting to direct sunshine, you can do this as often as twice a week without risk of drying out or damaging your hair. Simply apply the mixture throughout your hair, leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes, and rinse it out thoroughly in the shower. 5. Combine Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide Answer: You have two options! Either you can pull your hair into a bun and then spray all over, or you can braid your hair into pigtails and spray all over, then hang out in the sun. If you're looking for subtle highlights, I don't recommend blow drying as that lightens it faster and lighter. If you just want a few pretty highlights, Pull out the strands you want to highlight and hold them straight. Spray the solution on and use your fingers or a comb to evenly-distribute throughout the strand. If you're not confident in your spraying ability, you could use the paintbrush for this as well. Overall, Sun-In is pretty safe for your hair no matter which method you choose to use it to lighten with, and it will not cause damage to your hair.Be careful when using the blow drier method, if you hold it one spot for too long you can burn off a chunk of hair like I did!
