Finally, as far as power is concerned, the BT02BTs respect their commitment and are, as the manufacturer indicates, ideally at ease to enjoy a great sound level in rooms of about 20 to 25 m². They will be more limited in larger rooms, but we can’t blame them, especially as the distortion is very well managed. CONCLUSION

If I hadn’t known it was paper, I might have assumed the woofer/midrange cone was a molded plastic of some sort, such was the consistency of colour and the smooth texture. Many old and indeed some new speakers with paper cones look like a kindergarten experiment in paper making. Not the cone in the BR02.This is most common when small woofers are placed in vented enclosures tuned for maximum bass extension. The BR02 has a +/- 3 dB lower response spec of 51 Hz with a 13 cm woofer. If the woofer response is 3 dB down at 51 Hz, it probably isn't designed to play very loud (Triangle recommends 20 sq meter room or less for best results). If that 51 Hz point is really 6 dB down from the midrange response (which is actually more likely), then I wouldn't be concerned. Borea BR03 has a front firing port whereas Borea BR02 has a rear firing ports. Triangle Borea BR03's front-firing port gives more flexibility in placement in regards to proximity to walls compared to Triangle Borea BR02 with its rear-firing port. The connection and operation system between the two speakers is more dated. The right speaker is indeed controlled by the left speaker, which governs the pair, the whole being connected by an excellent old speaker cable, to be fixed on the terminals of each speaker. Triangle as a brand has developed their bass drivers to be fast, efficient and to provide strength for reproducing each impact whilst leaving space for vocals to cut through and to maintain an ‘airy’ sound. Triangle Borea BR07 It’s not often we stumble across a pair of speakers at this price that sound as sophisticated as the Triangle Borea BR03s. The 16cm midrange driver is taken from the more premium Esprit EZ range and uses Triangle's favoured cellulose paper cone material. The company likes the material's combination of relatively low mass, rigidity and self-damping. For the money, they’re savvy musical performers with a great sense of scale and an even greater appetite for presenting music in a transparent and mature manner. But are they speakers capable of worrying the current class-leaders? Most definitely.

The only minor concern in the specs is the minimum impedance dip to 3.6 ohms. Most likely not a problem with a solid-state amp, though a 4-ohm output tap on a tube amp might be beneficial. I’ll report on this later in the listening test.The BR03 is also notable in a slightly different way. Triangle is a company that builds speakers its own way with pretty much zero interest in what anyone else happens to be doing at the time. Its passive designs are recognisably equivalent to what other companies are building at the price but Triangle has no fear of proceeding to put its own spin on things. Features like horn loaded tweeters, downward firing ports and extraordinary sensitivity are all par for the course in its design language. Against this, the BR03 looks a bit, well, normal.

Out of the color choices (having seen all 4 in person), the only one I liked was the light oak which had a certain Scandinavian charm to it that I think would look great in any modern home. This happens when too much current is sent through the voice coil, and it can't dissipate the heat. This is more common for woofers, but can be an issue if the tweeter is playing down to an unusually low frequency. This is pretty rare when the speaker is playing a normal music signal unless one takes a speaker intended for home use and tries to play dance music in a large venue. Even then, many speakers do fine because music signals usually only draw high current in short bursts. The Triangle Borea BR02 is a compact, stand mounting speaker with a presence beyond its size. It’s ideal for using with hi-fi systems in smaller rooms or as an effect speaker within a quality home cinema speaker system. With a high efficiency performance, they’re also suitable for use with lower powered amps and mini hi-fi systems.Ohms is pretty much the standard nominal impedance amongst stereo speakers and amplifiers so Triangle Borea BR02 is not considered a difficult to drive speaker from nominal Impedance perspective. The twin-pronged diffuser appears to be pinching the silk dome, but look a bit closer and it’s just hovering over – it’s there to help reduce the directivity and improve the dispersion of high frequencies. Beneath the mid-bass driver sits a pair of bass reflex ports. One of the natural alternative to the Triangle Borea BR02 is the Borea BR03 which is located one step higher in Triangle's Passive Bookshelf selection. Speaker Cables without Connectors: If you are not sure about the lenght or need longer than standard cables with plugs, choose this option. I don't have any for you! This speaker busted my chops. I think it is a flawed design by it is broken in a way that creates a more pleasing sound than one would expect. Not sure if this is by design or what. Or whether it is my failing in characterizing it. You have the data. You chime in as to what you think.
