Now I'm not sure I should even go ahead with my plan to replace the Helios64 with the Eon - what's going to happen when summer hits and the office reaches 30°C? I think Argon should have done more in terms of providing a "roadmap" in terms of links to documentation and tutorials to help new users get the software set up.

Yes, I would be interested to see what it would take/cost to “upgrade” a preexisting Eon to be fully compatible with the Pi5 (new backplate, adapter board(s), etc. And the whole thing's pointless anyway, 'cos I've got it running at full tilt now and the hottest hard drive has gone from 37°C idle to 36°C idle.

The black, opaque acrylic panels are mounted thanks to embedded magnets and are probably the weakest link of this design. Argon has also baked versatility into the design with a built-IR port that works with the firm’s remote control (reviewed last month), perfect for a home theatre setup. That, combined with Synology's quirky operating system, limited UI functionality, and downright exacerbating technical support steered me to QNAP, where I've not had any regrets since. Instructions a bit vague, skipping a step: you *really* need to remove the rear IO shield before you try to shove the Raspberry Pi in.

The microSD card and GPIO even have been routed out the back and is protected with a removable plate.You’ll need a path to your media folder, which OMV exposes neatly in the Shared Folder section – just copy that path, and bind it to your local container folder structure and you are set to go.
