But in the end, it's a little hard to feel sorry for him. There's just too much airing of dirty laundry, too much "woe is me" as he throws every member of his family under the bus. It's undignified. A spoof on Spare - which I haven't read, but think poorly of. Unfortunately I think you do have to read Spare to catch some of the nuance, as then you know what parts are true/not. Some have defended Harry by saying "at least it's good that he owns up to it" and "he seems to have learned from it". Harry mentions that both he and his brother had agreed on welcoming Charles's lover Camilla Parker Bowles into their family on the condition that their father did not marry her. [17] He alleges that Camilla "sacrificed" him "on her personal PR altar" to improve her own public image and leaked "minute details" of a conversation she had with William to the press. [29] He alleges that William "felt tremendous guilt" for not speaking up about their father's affair with Camilla, and he had "long harboured suspicions about the Other Woman." [30] He adds that William was left "confused" and "tormented" as a result of the affair. [30] Harry also says that Camilla had "played a role" in his mother's death because she had been "pivotal" in the disintegration of his parents' marriage.
