During the Crazy 8 race, one of the racers flips and lands upside down on top of another car, much like in the opening race of the first film.

Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell and the other agents from Cars 2 are not seen or mentioned in this movie. It is also never mentioned whether or not Mater and Holley became a couple after the implications at the end of that film. Though Mater does mention owning a pair of "wedding flaps", so make of that what you will. Older Than They Look: This is repeatedly teased with Lightning throughout the movie. He's a veteran racer, yet he still looks the same as he did when he was a rookie.
