I mean yeah, you want to do away with anything that is evil but them torturing people if they even have black witch blood is a little much. I think this was smart, otherwise, would we see a lot of comparisons between Half Bad and Harry Potter floating around.

Being discriminated upon by your peers just because of what you are sucks a lot, having felt it myself when I went to Europe to study for a few weeks. And there’s an electric razor, which is a nightmare and hacks bits off my chin, but I can heal quick enough so I use it.

After meeting his father and receiving all the gifts that confirm him as a full adult witch, Nathan is still on the run and needs to find his friend Gabriel and rescue Annalise from blood witch Mercury. First, there’s the name, The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself, which is a mouthful, and you might imagine that they could have shortened it a bit from the book name to make it a bit more palatable for TV. When I think of all the great shows that had a famously rocky start but were given enough time to find their feet and become true classics (Seinfeld, say, or The Office), it’s heartbreaking to see that even programmes which wow from the get-go being culled.

By all accounts, Half Bad did everything right, but evidently, it didn’t do the numbers to justify a second season. But someone just walking down the lane and you see they are a black witch and your ready to burn them at the stake. However, the perils that Nathan endures really horrified me, and as terrible as it sounds, I couldn't stop reading about it.

Nathan Byrne is the illegitimate son of the world's most dangerous witch, kept in a cage by the Council of Fairborn Witches who believe he is destined to follow the same destructive path of his father. I'm not sure if it was the unique POV that Green chose to use, the excellent storytelling, the believable dialogue, or a combination of all three, but I fell in with Nathan.
