When Darrow is seeking Servo for a long awaited reunion, you will be on the edge of your seat, wishing they’d move quicker. I was really happy to see that the few relationships that are focused on in Light Bringer are written in such a way that feels true to the characters involved and also to the trauma of what they’ve been through, whatever the outcome.

His characters have a genuineness to them and consistently stay true to themselves as they evolve and grow. Here, we’re going to see how Darrow and Virginia have managed to actually lead this new government and society. Knowing we will still have Darrow and Severo until the last books makes me equally happy and terrified. Yes, the war is waging on, there are moments of military campaigns that are well played out here that Pierce describes in breathtaking prose. It’s got the action and excitement you would expect, and the twists and turns you don’t (but also do, because they’re always there).The vision from the film makers is ' Lawrence of Arabia in space', which is terribly exciting for me as it's my favorite film. And that wait can be excruciating, because Pierce Brown has decided to play within the entire solar system, and he does this well. While not as gut-wrenching and nail-biting as the Dark Ages, it delivered all that I hoped for, and more. Long-term friendships and enemies will keep the reader ready and eager to see the next interaction between them. Currently he lives in Los Angeles, where he scribbles tales of spaceships, wizards, ghouls, and most things old or bizarre.

My hubby thinks Sevro will have to kill him (I think that notion is ridiculous lol), but he hasn’t read Light Bringer and Darrow has more or less found redemption for all of the horrible shit he’s done. Brown is the recipient of the Goodreads 2014 Best New Novelist Award, as well as the Goodreads Best Science Fiction Novel Award in 2015 for Golden Son and in 2016 for Morning Star. Pierce stated that there's one particular death that he wrote in this book that he "bawled [his] eyes out.It's amazing to be able to share that internalized part of myself, that little world that no one really knows about. It made me want to start the series over, which I will while I endure the wait for the next book in the series. We’re seeing that idealistic visions fail in the face of real struggles, different people, and new issues.

Told in four parts as we traverse the galaxy, we spent our time between Lysander and Darrow (and crew. Brown told Entertainment Weekly that after completing the original trilogy, "I took a meager little break, mostly to stretch my screenwriting muscles. These POV shifts allow us to see the characters both as they see themselves and as how others see them, and Pierce Brown truly knows how to do that with grace. He is the kind of author who isn’t afraid to destroy the heart of his readers with his words and I know I can trust him to emotionally damage me and then build me back up with his books. It also contains spoilers for this book itself, and while those are in spoiler tags, they do not work on the mobile app.I am stunned and heartbroken and I feel like my brain has been pushed through the tiniest holes of a cheese grater. There were four places that the majority of the plot took place with four very separate, but intertwining threads. Brown found his stride with Lyria’s POV in Light Bringer in large part due to her having a more interesting part of the story to tell.

Some parts felt a little long, but I feel that way often when there are multiple narrators because I am always eager to get back to the perspective of my favorite characters. Darrow and the surviving members of his army narrowly escape with the arrival of Cassius au Bellona, who had been kept alive by the Raa family and managed to escape to Kavax. Pierce Brown spent his childhood building forts and setting traps for cousins in the woods of six states and the deserts of two.The first three books were very tightly plotted, with the climax being exactly what it had been building towards: the death of the Sovereign and the toppling of the Society. I’ve read them all several times (with the exception of Dark Age, which I’ve only read twice) and at this point, the characters feel like family. On Mercury, Lysander makes a deal with Atlas that involves the infiltration of Darrow's legions in Heliopolis.
