Korky is rolling a giant snowball down a hill (which has gathered up some interfering mice in it on its travels). Price 7/6 In 2006, the original 1939 Monster Comic was re-printed as a facsimile edition in a collector's slipcase. From 1938 to 1951 the annuals were called The Dandy Monster Comic. The name changed to The Dandy Book in the following year and continued, the year changing for each different annual, until the release of the 2003 book in 2002 when it was renamed "Annual". In 2012 The Dandy featured on a set of stamps issued by the Royal Mail to celebrate Britain's rich comic book heritage.

Sales of The Dandy peaked at over two million in the 1950s; by the time the print version was discontinued in 2012, the circulation had fallen to just 7,489.In 2006, the original 1939 Monster Comic was reprinted as a facsimile edition in a collector's slipcase. The editor of The Dandy from its inception right up until 1982 was Albert Barnes, whose chin was said to the inspiration for Desperate Dan's chisel-jawed good looks. Desperate Dan - This hugely popular desperado from the Wild West become the Dandy's mascot. He was known as the world's strongest man, able to lift a cow with one hand. Desperate Dan is towing a rowing boat (which is carrying the other then-current Dandy characters) with his teeth. The annuals are traditionally published in July or August, in time for Christmas, and since 1965 they have had the date of the following year on the cover. Before then no date was given.
