But as I started reading the book it occurred to me that there would have to be at least seven books in the series for all the questions to be answered- and I didn’t see a seventh book listed. However, I am happy that I managed to get through the first part to get to the historic part, because it was definitely better. For those who have been following the series, it’s 2008 and the six daughters of Pa Salt (from the previous six novels) are desperately trying to locate their seventh and “missing sister.

To their surprise, it is the missing sister who Pa Salt has chosen to entrust with the clue to their pasts.We thank those of you who have allowed us the space to grieve, and those who have donated so generously to Mary’s Meals . You'll probably wonder why i'm giving it four stars,well,for starters it was beautifully written and all these descriptions of Rio were so vivid that made me see,feel and fall in love with Brazil plus the background story of the creation of Christo's monument fascinated me. Beide Handlungsstränge - einmal die Geschichte um Maia, die im Jahr 2007 spielt, und dann die Geschichte um Izabela aus dem Jahr 1927 - haben mir sehr gut gefallen. There were a few slow bits where the past timeline felt like a soppy romance, but I connected with both the past and present main characters and enjoyed their arcs.

I get that wasn't a new concept to the series, but it never seemed central to the plot and I'm disappointed it was the answer to the biggest part of the whole mystery. The way his back story was threaded together, covering the previous 7 books was both a good refresher about the sisters' pasts, and an impressive way of solving some unanswered questions. In doing so, they will slowly unearth a story of love, strength and sacrifice that began almost one hundre He comes across as much older, the way he has got himself so involved in her story when he barely knows her, the way he seems to put himself across as so much more experienced and worldly wise and she's just a younger, naive woman who needs him to take care of her, it's all weird. Given it was a massive flaw in the whole story, he did a reasonable job of convincing me that the girls never asked Pa Salt the right questions/that he just brushed them off. Through a dual timeline, we are transported back to 1927 where Maia’s great grandmother must choose between her head (marrying into an aristocratic family) and her heart (romance with an impoverished sculptor working on a new statue of Christ).

Never have I found myself so deeply involved or moved as I have been by the bravery, humanity and sheer determination of the incredible people, both past and present, that I have encountered during the writing of Electra’s story. These are wonderful doorstep size tomes which drag you in and make you look forward to any spare minutes for absorbing more of the story.Just jumping in to say I had The Seven Sisters as both a paper copy and listened on audio, and yes I found Floriano creepy too!
