'he's just trapped in the body of a girl'.Fantastic Racism: A good portion of the conflict of the story is between the Highlanders, the residents of floating islands and the sole source of the magical Artifacts and other technology that allows fighting the magicite beasts, and the Midlanders, everyone that lives on ground level such as the humans. The Highlanders have for many generations constantly abused and taken advantage of Midlanders, extorting them through their control of their technology for large sums of raw resources. They also constantly mistreat Midlanders through enslaving them, murdering them for insults or simply getting in their way, and even manipulating them into being entire towns worth of Living Batteries without their knowledge or consent. This has, unsurprisingly, engendered much mistrust and outright hostility from Midlanders, primarily with the Ironblood Chain Brigade, a paramilitary organization built from the victims and victim's families of these abuses who have vowed to destroy Highland and Highlanders no matter what the cost. elements of the isekai or iyashikei genre are missing. So you can imagine for yourself how disappointing it is when the major battles have no stakes involved.

There is a man known as Inglis. He is blessed with a power known as Aether from a goddess. He eventually became the hero-king by founding a powerful country. While Inglis has no regrets about her previous life, she is disappointed that the contributions her previous life made have largely fallen into obscurity at best or forgotten at worse due to the successors of her previous life, most likely failing to live up to the legacy of the Hero King. When she saw illusions of the person showing was her successor, she couldn't stop herself from demanding to know what went wrong, only to realize that this illusion couldn't answer her questions. A male hero-king on his death bed (old age) wishes to be reborn in the distant future to see how his kingdom is faring and to dedicate his life to fighting as opposed to ruling. The goddess fulfils his wish and he is reborn as the daughter of a knight captain sometime in the distant future. We follow her breezing through her first few major events in her young life until she enters the knight academy at the age of 15, events that tease us about the world and that it is quite troubled. In theory, I should have liked this. In practice, it's still bogged down by the horrible female-unfriendly light novel tropes so prevalent in Japanese fiction. Boob-groping, casual sexual harassment, and a focus on getting girls naked in the bath that proves to me that the only reason Inglis is now a girl is so all these idiotic tropes can exist. A male protagonist gets summoned/reincarnated into another world. He becomes overpowered and gets a harem of girls. Most everything in this anime is, at best, average. And while I watched it all the way through, and while I would most likely watch a second season, it barely kept me engaged, especially by the end, so I am happy it is done for the season. Inglis originally thought of Liselotte to be a jerk for her doubts of Leone. Liselotte became Inglis' close friend during the special exams.
