A personal take on the Uni-Vibe from Brazil that does a great job at recreating Jimi Hendrix’s sound (high depth, low rate) in Chorus mode and Ray Vaughan (at high rate).

A stereo, digital recreation of the famous analog original, this one is a little darker than many of the others. Tone Print enabled, but no expression control. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. The Croatian team at DryBell has been invested in the idea of creating the best possible Uni-Vibe pedal for years – and that’s all they did from the inception of the company around 2010 until 2019. The result of this commitment was the Vibe Machine V1, released in 2012, one of the most (if not the most) versatile Vibes around, an evolution that retains the tone and character of the vintage units, while greatly expanding on the sonic possibilities. A personal take on the Uni-Vibe that delivers a modulation sound somewhere between a Uni-Vibe and a Leslie rotating speaker, with controls for Velocity, Amplitude, and Gain. It’s often used as a boost with the Amplitude setting down to zero. The controls include the usual Intensity, Rate, and Level, but also a ‘Voice’ knob which lets you choose the midrange frequency’s focus, and a ‘Throb’ one, which blends in a sub-harmonic low-end frequency to the modulation to emphasize the low-end pulse.What sets this pedal apart is the detail of filtering. It features 4 filter knobs to fine-tune the sound, a selectable buffer, envelope shaping and stereo output. For me there is a lot of overlap between Auto-Wah and the various Filter pedals - where for that combined category my next intended acquisition is the Flower Pedals Hosta or Spaceman Artemis. For now I'm more than satisfied with the CryBaby Q-Zone and Dr Scientist Dusk in those respective roles.

One of the most versatile Vibes around, from a company that for several years was fully invested in the Uni-Vibe niche. It has controls for depth of modulation, tone, input impedance (for using different guitars), and output volume. 6 side trimmers let you tweak a series of settings to tailor several parameters related to tone and functions. V3, a 10th-year anniversary edition, retains the same tone but delivers a modulation with deeper depth and character. I've obviously just recently completed a roundup of Compact Bitcrusher pedals and here sit my favourites from that overview. All those listed are on my wishlist bar the Dr Scientist BitQuest which I already have. My likeliest next additions here are the Catalinbread Heliotrope and Electro-Harmonix Mainframe. To be honest I like the look of the Alexander Syntax Error too and WMD Geiger Counter CI. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty As of 2020, the Leslie G is also discontinued, Hammond’s own entry in the rotary-speaker emulation market for guitarists. The pedal is a smaller version of its Digital Leslie Pedal. That unit features emulations of the 122, 147, and 18 model cabinets, as well as the Hammond PR-40 tone cabinet, a stationary-speaker cabinet that was a standard issue with Hammond organs in the 1950s and 1960s. (The addition isn’t surprising when considering that Leslie is now marketed under Hammond.) The Leslie G loses the PR-40 emulation, which is no great loss, and instead lets you store a preset or your own creation.

I could only really find one proper Mini Rotary equivalent - Mooer to the rescue again with its Soul Shiver!

Dawner Prince recently came out with a stereo open cabinet revolving speaker emulator called Pulse, inspired by Pink Floyd’s legendary rotary speaker Doppola and Maestro Rover RO-1. It has separate controls for slow and fast rotation speed and a mix control. Inertia knob sets the time it takes for the ramping effect to go from slow to fast, while the Distance knob mimics the distance of the virtual microphone from the speaker. There's no shortage of really decent alternatives in this category - per my recent Compact Chorus Overview - which came a little before the Julianna release if you're wondering why that's missing from that overview. The Analog.Man Mini Analog Chorus is also excellent, along with the EarthQuaker Devices Sea Machine, Electro-Harmonix EDDY Chorus/Vibrato with Enveloper Filter, JAM Pedals Waterfall, Lichtlaerm Trugbild, Mad Professor Double Moon, MXR M234 Analog BBD Chorus, Neunaber Inspire Tri-Chorus Plus V2, Paradox Effects Futura, and VFE Choral Reef.Sportings an actual optical vibe circuit in a compact case, its circuit provides ways to recreate a Uni-Vibe effect very close to the original or to improve its tone to complement your instrument or sonic needs. The circuit can also be powered at 9v or 18v for those guitarists who like extra headroom, although at 18v the effect sounds slightly different. Flanger is probably my favourite current modulation - actually I really love my core analog quartet of Harmonic Tremolo, Chorus, Flanger and Phaser - where it's the sort of BB-size ThorpyFX Camoflange which is very much my current Flanger of choice. I have 3 in this highlighted listing - Boss BF-2, Chase Bliss Audio Spectre, and the A/DA PBF Flanger. I fully intend to get the excellent and recently revamped Retro-Sonic Flanger and Subdecay Starlight at some stage too.
