The last game of the season at Brighton and Hove Albion saw the Sussex club relegated to the Third Division after Leeds beat them 1-0. But as the book progresses you still elements of respect and at times remorse for actions especially when they affected fans not associated with the firms. As you say Leeds Service Crew were / are one of the top mobs in the country during the peak days of British football hooliganism, and I was even in London one Saturday around 1980, when you brought a huge mob of 300-400, to take it to Chelsea on their own turf. On 11 May 1985 (the same day as the Bradford City stadium fire) a 14-year-old boy (Ian Hambridge) A Leeds fan attending his first ever game died at St Andrew's stadium when fans were pushed by police onto a wall which subsequently collapsed following crowd violence at a match between Birmingham City and Leeds United. And despite the constant barrage of violence there are parts that can be quite thought provoking, such as a Falklands veteran (an ex-para who was involved at the battle of Goose Green and would nowadays probably have been diagnosed with PTSD) getting 4 years imprisonment for football related violence compared to the same judge giving someone from Barnsley a 3 year sentence for the robbery and rape of an 80 year old women. The police eventually launched Operation Wild Boar to take down the ringleaders, only to convict a small number of relative fringe players. It could have any of 2-3 thousand lads who were only doing the same thing, namely following their team and getting in a few rucks. They backed the ten of us into the pub and went on to destroy the outside of it until the Old Bill turned up.
