The Katana has a unique streamlined design. New Sounds and Features Come to the Katana

The effects are, in a word, familiar – this is a Boss product and we all know what the trusty stompbox titan can do in that field. The pre-loaded selection covers all the basics, from three different boost voicings to a nice trio of reverbs, while the three ‘FX’ options are tremolo, octave down and a very cool envelope follower. It’s easy to lose yourself in the powerful features onboard the Katana MkII. Still, don’t neglect the rear panel. That’s where you’ll find the connectivity to hook up these flexible amps with anything from PAs to DAW software. These options can blow your creative possibilities wide open. It sounds good at low volume as well. Even at the lowest possible setting on the 0.5 watt setting sounds pretty darn good. This amp is easily enough for playing at bars and even small/medium sized halls. With its built-in BOSS effects, the Katana-50 lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio via USB provides access to 65 fully customizable effects, and you can load your favorites into the amp’s various effects sections. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection includes effects types like pitch shifting, ring mod, slicer, and many more. Channel and global parametric EQs are available as well for powerful overall tone shaping. It doesn't support a decent footswitch controller as its big brother 100W does. Therefore, turning on/off the effects can become really annoying, since you have to turn the knobs to (de)activate the effects.The Katana 50 MKII can store 4 of your favourite patches directly to the amp, with 15 effects per patch. There is a rear-panel connection, allowing you to control the amp channels with a footswitch or manipulate effects with an expression pedal. The Katana 50 is compatible with the Boss FS-6 ( Katana 100MKII and above use the GA-FC) and all Katana models are compatible with all Boss Expression Pedals. One thing that’s often mentioned when speaking of the Katana is its wide range of features. The amp includes five amp models: Acoustic, clean, crunch, lead, and brown. The Katana 100 is basically the same as the 50, except it’s got a hundred watts instead of fifty, and it’s got an FX-loop. It also has four more channels spread over two banks.
