Aside from some textural inconsistencies in the form of little clumps (they did dissolve during application), it easily broke down makeup and left our skin feeling calm and balanced. It effectively broke down all face and eye makeup—aside from waterproof mascara, which we needed to use a warm cloth to fully remove—and it didn’t feel stripping or too greasy on the skin. We also noticed a reduction in facial rednessover the period that we tested this product because it completely removed the need to harshly rub skin to remove makeup and sunscreen. That doesn’t deter her from recommending it though. “This balm leaves my skin feeling hydrated after cleansing — no tightness or dryness at all; my skin feels soft rather than stripped,” she shares. Out of all of the balms we tested, this product stood out to us the most for its consistency, cleansing ability, and for the way it left our skin feeling post-cleanse — in fact, it earned a perfect score across all of our testing categories. Compared with some balms on the market, we found there to be no oily residue left behind from this product. One tester even noted that the balm removed all traces of makeup, even that which was "baked and caked" on. We even found that our skin felt more moisturized and supple after using it; the same tester noted that her skin had been feeling extra dry due to retinol use, but that this balm has been "fantastic" for gently cleansing her sensitive skin while also restoring moisture. She also noticed an overall improvement in her skin's clarity and tone. One of the coolest things about cleansing balms is how the consistency changes from the container to the palm of your hand. Our overall winner starts with a firm consistency when it's initially scooped out, but once rubbed into the skin, it becomes smooth and milky, and it practically melts away makeup in less than a minute.Not only do products need to avoid irritating my skin, but they also need to leave my skin better off. If your skin feels dry or looks dull, if you wear makeup on a daily basis, if you’re a fan of double cleansing, or if you simply like to take a luxe approach to your skincare routine, then a cleansing balm is the one for you. Eye makeup was easily removed without scrubbing, but our tester's sensitive skin did flare up a bit after the first use. However, once she acclimated to it, she was able to use it more regularly and her skin never felt the same sensation, just a notably refreshed feel. She also noticed that her skin had a healthy sheen to it and that her pores actually appeared to be less noticeable. "I think I'm a convert, and so now I'm going to recruit folks to come with me. " I have bamboo pads, but those are irritating my skin a lot, so I´m glad I can now throw them away (aka from my vanity, I think I might use them as cleaning cloths, lol) and just use this Cleansing Cookie or my Makeup Eraser cloth.
