Description

Concertina your paper and when it is ready, prop the end of the wallpaper up with a broom handle or something similar. Smooth down the paper and brush into the corner so it overlaps the wallpaper your carried round the bend. Remove or cover your furnitureAvoid having furniture in the room you’re working in, too, if possible. If not, cover it with dustsheets, along with the floor. Finally, clean the surfaces you’ll be working on thoroughly using our range of cleaning products, to avoid any bumps or marks.

Higher than a kitchen table and just wider than a roll of wallpaper, this lightweight folding platform is perfect for measuring, cutting and pasting paper. Plumb line/chalk lineWant to make sure you hang your wallpaper straight? Use a plumb line (a weight on the end of a string) to get a perfectly straight vertical line. Carefully measure from the edge of the last piece of wallpaper making sure to measure at several points, as most walls aren’t 100% vertically straight. After all the prep work, you can finally get started on the actual wallpapering! So take a deep breath and look forward to the end result! To make sure it all goes without a hitch, you have to measure the wall once more. We already did that to determine the amount of wallpaper rolls we need, but as the old saying goes: Better safe than sorry. Measure the next strip, allowing for uneven plastering again, and draw a vertical line in pencil at a slightly broader width. If a room has a wide wall projection, e.g. if there is a mantelpiece, this will be the first place the eye is drawn to, so you should start there; again, the pattern alignment should start in the middle.

Top tips for hanging wallpaper

As the beginning of the roll does not necessarily show the complete image of the basic pattern, you should manually hold it up on the wall. Our wallpaper girl chose the middle of the wall to determine the start of the pattern and then begins at the top.
