Blair Athol distillery is a single malt whisky distillery in Scotland. It is used in Bell's whisky, and is also normally available in a 12-year-old bottling. [2] The distillery is located on the south edge of Pitlochry in Perthshire, near the River Tummel. Get to Perth-Inverness road via the A9 dual carriageway and alight at the junction where you’d see a signpost that bears the direction of Pitlochry. Travel left and get under the flyover onto the A924 which leads directly to Pitlochry. Just one mile after exiting the dual carriageway, turn to your right and there lies the distillery. BP filling station is on the right. TrainAt the Pitlochry rail station, travel left towards Athol road. At Athol road, turn right and keep going south right through the railway bridge. The distillery is located on your left just a little farther than Little Church and its entrance is just 250yards out. Flight Blair Athol changed hands several times during the 1800s and eventually closed in 1932. A year later the distillery was acquired by Arthur Bell and Sons and today as much as 95% of the outturn is bourbon-matured and used in Bell’s blended products. The whisky boasts a swift maturation and the remaining five or so percent of spirit is aged in sherry casks and sold as single malt, mostly by independent bottlers.
