They don’t have a very strong vinegar flavor and tend to come across more sweet than savory or tangy.That green tinge that you sometimes see on a potato or potato chip is the sign of a compound known as solanine, which accumulates when these darkness-loving tubers end up getting too much sun exposure. The pleasant tang of vinegar is nicely balanced with a sprinkling of real serrano chile powder, offering a touch of heat and plenty of earthiness to these crunchy chips. In fact, these were actually our favorite salt and vinegar potato chips in the flavor department, as after the taste tests were said and done, these were the chips we wanted to keep munching on.

We found these to have superior crunch and a lovely golden coloring, as a good kettle cooked chip should. You could have up to two servings of sea-salted popchips from the larger bag and still be within your syn allowance for the day. Visually speaking, these chips are not the best looking as they have way more “eyes”--you know, those dark spots in the potatoes--and other blemishes than any other bag of chips we dumped out. They are also on the high end in both calories and fats, with 160 calories and 10 grams of fat per serving. And sadly, these chips are fried in an oil blend which may or may not contain soybean oil, so if you have food allergies keep an eye on this one! Pros: ALLERGEN NOTE: all these chips are certified gluten free--wohoo! Keep an eye out for other allergens though, as commercially produced chip brands are well-known for making use of potentially problematic oils such as peanut oil or soybean oil. There actually weren’t many things we didn’t like about these chips, as they were delicious, well-crafted, and excellently presented through and through! The only thing worth noting is that of course that spicy-sweet serrano powder may not be to everyone’s tastes, and that the spice level varies a bit from one chip to the next. Pros:
