The Girls I’ve Been is a powerful gut-punch of a book that will leave you reeling long after its final pages. Unfortunately, their mothers are lifelong best friends, so the girls’ bickering has carried them through playdates, tragedy, and more than one rom-com marathon with the Moms. sharpe doesn't shy away from engaging with difficult themes and showing them in all their complexity. The writing is moving, vibrant, and quite blunt, and I adored the mix of dual POVs and dual timelines.There were some great funny moments in the book, but it also dealt with some heavy themes in an honest and thought-provoking way. But when an almost-kiss goes from almost to I am now wearing your lip gloss, Penny and Tate have no choice but to finally face the music … right?
