There is also an “intelligent brightness downshifting sensor” that automatically lowers the output if something comes close to the lens (around 60mm) for more than 1.5 sec The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used on High mode for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user the reselection of High mode.

With the light switched on, press and hold the spotlight switch for 1.2 seconds to simultaneously turn off both modes. Mode Switching The light features 3 individual modes controlled by a rotary toggle switch. These are: Distance beam, floodlight beam, and combined distance / floodlight beam. Simply rotate the toggle switch to the required mode to select it, then use the central push button to cycle brightness levels. Holding the button down for 1.2 seconds on any mode will activate mode 4, Strobe and SOS. The Fenix LR40R V2.0 is fairly unique in the dual-channel aspect.
