Draw a picture of your street. Support your child to take a look at the street and buildings around where they live. Encourage them to think about the shape of the buildings and the different heights. The illustrations are gorgeous, first and foremost. I loved the play with the flashlight, the softness of the nighttime forest, the colors of the spaceship. If for no other reason, read this for the pictures. Saw one review here talking about how the text actually detracted from the story, and I can see that. This could have been a great wordless picture book too - the illustrations carry that much of the story. I have added more activities to Mathletics to support your maths learning this week. You could make a calendar for the next week or for the whole year 2020 to practise. This could include drawing or paintings of each season/day. I have set maths challenges using Mathletics today as I wanted you to have access to measuring lessons that wouldn't necessarily need a ruler. These activities will be ongoing and have been set for a week. I will still post more maths activities here for those of you who cannot access Mathletics but I do not expect you to do both. Ask your child to recreate their favourite; this could be through drawing, collaging etc. The word ‘sport’ contains the sound ‘or’. Ask your child to list as many words as they can containing the ‘or’ sound. Your child might identify words that contain an alternative spelling for ‘or’ such as oor/ore/aw/au.
