The Week Junior ’s Children’s Book of the Week A great story of developing young friendships, delving into some of the issues children of this age group may be facing, and helping them find the tools they need to grow with confidence. I wanted to create something that really captured the true spirit of breakfast club. Outside of making sure we got the best start to our days with cereal, toast and juice, it was where my friendships were made. Where we could just lose ourselves. A safe haven,” said Rashford. “Breakfast club was where some of my greatest memories were formed, where we talked about our dreams and where adventures were planned, and it was important for me that we captured that in my first fiction book. Alex is a great writer who is able to capture that brilliantly and I’m thrilled that he’s on this journey with me.”Breakfast Club, according to Marcus, gave them the best possible start to their day as it welcomed them with open arms. It was not just about the food, but about forming friendships, about escape, and about togetherness. It was where some of his best memories were made. Um, but also when you read out loud you can really s-, um, sense the rhythm of a piece and how- and how it feels when you're reading it. So yeah, that's definitely something to do, maybe even with some EXPRESSION! The book is inspired by Rashford’s own adventures growing up, and is aimed at eight to 12-year-olds.

Marcus is a lifelong supporter of Manchester United, his local football club, and grew up in a family divided in their support of United and their local rivals Manchester City. Marcus went to Ashton-on-Mersey School, where United have been sending their academy players since 1998, close to their Carrington training ground.
