Description

Spread the cream cheese on the ham. Spread about 1 & 1/2 tablespoons on each slice of ham, making sure to cover them all the way to the edges. SOUR CREAM – You could probably use reduced fat or light Sour Cream if you’d like. You can also use Plain Greek Yogurt.

Melt the butter in a large frying pan on a medium heat and fry the toasties for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until crisp and golden-brown.Place the flour on a large plate and season with salt and pepper. Put the eggs and milk in a shallow bowl and beat together. Add the panko breadcrumbs to another bowl. To make the toastie, cut the crusts off the bread and spread the béchamel on two slices of bread. Sprinkle over the gruyere and chives and add the shredded ham before topping with the remaining slices of bread and squash down to seal. They were created by Mr Brannigan, a shopkeeper of Irish heritage, who launched his popular crisps from his market stall. WHIPPED CREAM CHEESE – Whipped Cream Cheese is best for this recipe. But you can use softened regular cream cheese. But make sure you soften it close to room temperature. I would recommend using full fat, not any of the reduced fat stuff. For some extra flavor, you can use Vegetable Cream Cheese.

Ham– Use any deli ham you like. Smoked, honey, maple, peppered, etc. If getting it from the deli counter, make sure they slice it thin. First: In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine sour cream and softened cream cheese until thoroughly mixed.
