As someone who advocates continual assessment both internally and externally, Hasard's book was a great read. He creates sufficient detail that I could picture the scenarios unfolding, all the while judging where and how critical thinking was used (or where it was not). I'd watched a lot of content on Hasard's YouTube channel before I ever knew he wrote a book, and while I admire a lot of what he says on the channel, the book shows a side of him that I think would be hard to convey over a video medium.

Finally, I did find a numerical error in this book where Lee was demonstrating how a complex numerical problem can be mentally solved. I mention this because an error like this can undermine Lee's credibility. As well, I feel a book like this should have an index so the reader can easily access vital information. A glossary would have been beneficial. I also felt some of the true stories dragged on.

Highlights key points in making tough decisions, with a strong emphasis on mental resilience & clarity. Then further underlines the importance of managing emotions effectively & provides a glimpse into mental-performance training programs that can enhance decision-making capabilities. Also stresses the need for prioritisation & decisiveness, drawing from historical examples, such as General Eisenhower's approach to task management during World War II--advises that a clear vision is essential to guide decision-making & disciplined, while focused action is vital to maximise impact of choices. One day I walked into the secure vault, which is the tactical nerve center of every fighter squadron, and Cygon was there telling a story about the test program he had been a part of in the F-16. He had learned that in a clean configuration, the F-16 would begin to buffet at around Mach 1.6—it was a known area where the aerodynamic forces would compound and amplify the vibrations. He said that it was possible to push through it by counterintuitively going faster. The change in resonance would dampen the flexing and reduce the vibration. It was an interesting story, but one that I didn’t think would apply to the tactical flying we did during day-to-day operations.

nature will never mind whether your decision is perfect or not, as long as we can maneuver what the life has given. but, identify the error thinking, i think, is a must, for at least showing us now in the right place, at least for now.
