Though I am not a dog person, I did find the format fun -- each basic microecon or macroecon lesson is framed as a walk on which she's taking her dog Monty to converse about these topics.

Over the course of 17 dog walks, it looks at different economic concepts and how they shape our everyday lives.Economics is a fascinating subject, and this book explains some of its core concepts and terms clearly while adding concise examples and simple anecdotes. The cover may have some limited signs of wear but the pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged. I am taking care of my sister's excitable dog today, and I was trying to explain to him that he didn't have to bark at everyone standing in the street in front of our house, and that people communicating in front of the house, even while out walking other dogs, was necessary for the functioning of the economy, especially the parts of the economy that involve bringing home dog treats. How can I explain this to a 3 year old, very excitable Great Pyranese/Labrador Retriever mix, with a limited understanding of math? Students taking citizenship, politics, sociology and perhaps even history may well benefit from its accessible introduction to the field.

A quirky introduction to economics" (on the front cover) is a good description of this book which is attempting to get a person with a reasonable interest in the subject more knowledgeable. This is one of the first textbooks to explore the phenomenon of Influencer Marketing and how it fits within marketing communications to build brands and their communities. Economics concepts can often be difficult to grasp, but the authors have done an admirable job of explaining them in plain language … This is one of the few books on economics that works as a textbook while remaining actually readable!My only gripe would be that in the discussion on why some countries have developed less than others there was no mention of the effect of imperialism.

The use of Monty the dog as a way to both summarise and challenge the narrator is clever as well as being humourous in parts. I appreciate the desire to keep this focused on economic theory but this was a fairly glaring omission to make if you are going to discuss global inequality.
