I picked this book up because it was recently recommended to me to start taking magnesium supplements and I wanted to understand more about why. This book does to some extent fall into that problem that almost all books do when they are on the topic of one nutrient in that it seems this one nutrient is a magic bullet for everything. This is one major reason to either read this book or study other information on magnesium deficiency from a reliable source, as you want to make sure to get the right information. Dean touts transdermal magnesium oil as being quickly absorbed and highly bioavailable, so I purchased some to apply daily. To try to relieve her leg cramps, Mary began taking calcium at night, having read that it was good for cramps and sleep. Doctors may use magnesium oxide to treat constipation or as an antacid for heartburn or indigestion.
