While we only had a short time with them at a recent Sharp event we were impressed by what we saw (and heard). This isn’t really one of those: as we’ve said, the selection of quality 70-inch TVs is a little limited. Instead, this is a decent 70-inch TV at an excellent price. Like with many of the best LG TVs, even so-called ‘lower-end’ options are still impressive, providing quality color, clarity, and contrast. Of course, some of the best OLED TVs on the market are from LG if your budget allows for them. Hopefully we’ll get to spend more time with them nearer their launch, but regardless the EQ series are definitely ones to watch out for if you’re wanting to upgrade your home cinema from a more budget set Overall despite the great color, it’s not the brightest screen and contrast does suffer a little. Plus, despite having Auto Low Latency Mode, there’s not much else to the Game Optimizer feature, and there’s no HDMI 2.1 port.

For gamers, don’t expect a wealth of features but it does come with automatic Low Latency Mode, which should improve the smoothness of your games (and give you a slight edge over your competition). Plus, it has a voice remote, so controlling everything is nice and simple. While it’s not the best TV out there for your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it is probably the best 70-inch TV for those consoles. And it’s also got some great smart tech included. Featuring a 70 inch, 4K HDR screen and Harman Kardon speaker system, the Sharp 70CL5KA has what it takes for premium sound and vision. This TV’s got LG’s Quad-Core Processor 4K, which is a really solid processor at this price point. It’s one of the best TVs for upscaling lower-quality and older content to make sure that it doesn’t look grainy or blurry on a 70-inch display. That means even classic movies from years ago get a new lease of life. LG’s best 70-inch TV is part of their NanoCell range, which enhances the color and vibrancy of everything you watch.Over the last few years, TVs have been manufactured in a wide variety of sizes. But some, including 70-inch models, are now becoming rarer as 65-inch, 75-inch, and larger sizes become the standard. As well as an HDMI 2.1 port, it has a ProGaming Engine suite of features including Variable Refresh Rate, AMD FreeSync, and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). This isn’t a QLED and it doesn’t have the best tech that Samsung has to offer. But honestly, for this price, you’ll be amazed by just how good it looks. Of course, it’s a smart TV that supports all the usual streaming platforms and works with Google Assistant or Alexa. This is pretty standard nowadays, but it still impresses when it comes to sheer ease of use.

You’ll still be able to nab Sharp’s current range of LCD screens that are currently available, but if you want something a bit bigger the brand hopes to offer new 70-inch 4K displays by the end of the year. And it works hard on sound levels too: using Adaptive Sound tech it can analyze scenes and tweak the settings so that dialogue doesn’t get lost among the action of everything happening around it. Sharp isn’t abandoning its more affordable sets yet though, and will still offer 4K LCD displays for those on more of a budget.Next up you might want to look for gaming features, unless you don’t plan on doing much gaming. HDMI 2.1 ports are rare for 70-inch TVs but some do still have Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for a smoother gaming experience. Smart Platform The Samsung Q60B QLED TV combines quantum dots and LEDs with the aim of improving color and contrast. But the results are mixed with this entry-level model, which doesn’t quite distinguish itself.In short, if you want to luxuriate in the beauty of cinematography, this simply isn’t the set for you. Highly respected for their home and premium in-car hi-fi, Harman Kardon are a top brand in audio. With this Sharp TV they’ve specced a 2.1 speaker system that uses a dedicated subwoofer for a richer, more lifelike sound. For a further step-up in sound, use the HDMI ARC or optical digital outputs to add a soundbar of your choice.
