While we have divested from our own distillery, it is a significant milestone in our whiskey journey. Husband-and-wife whiskey-making team Bernard and Rosemary Walsh grew up on family farms in Ireland. They chose to remain close to their agricultural upbringings while pursuing their shared quest to produce the perfect drop, or taoscán (dram), of Irish whiskey.Malt, caramel, toffee, orchard fruit, vanilla, dynamic dark sweets, creamy vanilla and some copper with a bit of lemon and hazelnuts. I’m a bit surprised by the richness.

Celebrating Ireland’s literary greats has always been at the core of Writers’ Tears and there is none greater than James Joyce. We are delighted to play our part in supporting Joyce’s legacy through Sweny’s Pharmacy, which is a piece of perfectly preserved living history from Joyce’s Victorian Dublin.”Through its partnership with the Legaret family, Walsh Whiskey recently introduced French oak to followers of the Writers’ Tears portfolio with the limited release of Writers’ Tears Cognac Cask. Encouraged by it’s success, Bernard Walsh decided to make French oak a permanent feature in the Writers’ Tears portfolio through the introduction of Writers’ Tears Double Oak. Supporting the screening of the documentary ‘Remarkable Women’, about the women who influenced the first publication of Ulysses, at MOLI (Museum of Literature Ireland, Dublin). Bernard sources whiskeys made to his exacting specifications. He then augments the spirits through blending and finishing, honouring old styles and creating new ones in the process.
