Almost 20 years after its inception, the Jurassic Park Trilogy remains an unmatched cinematic experience. It isn't long before all hell breaks loose and the stranded wayfarers must fight for survival as a host of new -- and even more deadly -- dinosaurs try to make snacks of them.

Vocals can, at times, feel a bit drowned out by the all the commotion, but it's rather clear for the most part. This set, billed the "Ultimate Trilogy," includes a slew of new featurettes, archival extras and fresh remasters.The rears are at a near constant, with a variety of discrete ambient effects and superb lifelike directionality. Archival Featurettes (SD, 66 min) — A few of the supplements from other releases are collected here, which starts with an aged EPK piece on the making of the film and filled with many of the same snippets found on the above segments. As a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray package, the set from Universal is pretty good, the native 4K picture may not be quite the step up in terms of detail one might expect, but the enhancements of HDR and WCG really boost the image to the best it’s ever going to look. But this is still a “decently” detailed image that backs-up its dino-footage with leathery close-ups of massive hides, more lush foliage to peruse – rocks and bark look fine to me - and tightly contained fast-action that still allows us to inspect the hunters' equipment and the physicality of the monsters during those wild set-pieces. It is a near perfect combination of story, visuals and sound, it is little wonder there have been accolades heaped on it and people still continue to do so; indeed it just keeps being remade as there is little to improve!

But it must be said, the film intentionally places more emphasis on a sense of adventure and excitement than on the science or the possibilities. Some of the softer portions of the image are clearly the result of age, and most occur during the several visual effects sequences.At first, the thought was something different than what was made, but with Crichton already releasing a follow-up book, filmmakers decided to go in that much darker direction. But, this said, they look pleasantly film-like, unmolested by DNR or compression artefacts, and better defined than previously seen.

Malcolm's group, which brings Julianne Moore, Vince Vaughn, and Richard Schiff together, is there merely to explore and observe. What distracts from enjoying a second trip through prehistoric fantasy is a very apparent lack of characterization. Even with transfers that aren't quite as nice as hoped for by many people, I cannot help but recommend this set for its video performance.Another scene atop the cliff when Malcolm and party realise that his daughter has towed-along with them is stricken by the same thing. Very interesting is listening to Spielberg share his thoughts on giving creators his input while in the middle of filming 'Schindler's List. Depth and details are far more refined here, and visual clarity is leaps and bounds beyond the old DVD.
