It was on that day that an Irish priest, Brother Wilfrid, gathered his fellow believers there and suggested that they organize a soccer club. With these chosen finalists, the second phase of the project was to invite journalists and design specialists to judge the badges. The most popular away strip ever worn by the club also featured the large green 3 leaf shamrock as late as the early 60s. It certainly looks as though it had been officialy adopted by 1938, which was a few years before the creation of the Celtic Supporters Association and the Bonnybridge CSC. As it is, the club won four trophies that season and in effect the whole history of the club was to change.

However, it was not for many years before the club did formally adopt the four leafed clover as the official club badge, but the first steps had already been taken. In a book about the legendary Celtic defender James 'Dun' Hay (by his grandson Roy Hay – 'The Story of a Footballer' 2004) the above photo appears confirming that this was the design used on medals issued by the club to the players who won every major trophy available in Scotland that year, the first time this had been done. The badge is displayed on all articles of Celtic merchandise and countless millions of people all over the world have seen this unique badge on an equally unique and impressive hooped shirt.It’s a nice story but unfortunately Celtic first used the 4 leaf in 1938, six years before the birth of the CSA and nine years before Desmond White joined the Board. The current version of the logo was designed in 1995 and was replaced by the 125-years anniversary badge for one year, in 1012. The meeting was led by Marist Brother Walfrid (born Andrew Kerins in Ballymote, Ireland), who proposed that a football club be established to raise funds for the alleviation of the rampant poverty in Glasgow’s East End, similar to the mission of Edinburgh’s Hibernian Football Club when it was established in 1875. It’s an important emblem of the club and the support, and one of the world’s most recognisable symbols.

C. A member of the club, one of the Doyle family designed the bus plaque that was in time to become the official logo of Celtic F. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the club’s existence, they adopted this logo: a white circle with a lot of green elements. The 3 leaf shamrock is used often in the early days in Celtic publications, especially the Celtic Handbooks but one example of the 4 leaf is seen as early as 1908 when the club made up medals to commemorate the 4 trophies won that glorious year and gave them to the players.

Today the strongest and one of the oldest Scottish clubs are managed by Neil Lennon and has Ian Bankier is the chairman. One possible theory is that it is possible that if Celtic had won only the three then a three-leafed clover would have been used likely gone on to become the club emblem. The club’s wordmark, “The Celtic Football Club”, is written in a lightweight sans-serif typeface with thin clean lines and placed on the upper part of the badge’s frame, arched from the center.
