Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla Distilled Gin is best served with plenty of ice, premium tonic water, and a wedge of orange. Speciality Brands has announced the launch of Cuvée: Argot, a new permanent addition to the Waterford Distillery range. Aroma: Orange with facets of white grapefruit pith dominates; however, some signature Tanqueray botanicals are present beneath it. Hints of licorice, angelica and juniper. Served with tonic, the 0.0% was incredibly refreshing, with some members of the team comparing its subtle orange taste to Fanta and Cremola Foam. Despite being able to smell the gin in the original Tanqueray Sevilla, we noted that we could detect the same heady mix of botanicals in both, plus the gorgeous orangey-elements of orange blossom and bitter orange harvested from the glorious Spanish city of Seville. Indeed, this zesty gin invokes the sun-soaked romance of the Spanish countryside, its 41.3 % ABV making it strong enough to be paired with a good Mediterranean tonic and – not unnaturally – a wedge of orange. Although I equally enjoyed this clear, light and ‘sunny’ gin with a Fever Tree Indian Tonic and a chunk of grapefruit, Tanqueray recommends serving with any premium tonic and a ‘squeezed wedge of orange.’ Not surprisingly, the aroma and taste is of bittersweet orange and orange blossom; while the scent of grapefruit is noticeable, along with underlying and subtle juniper accents typical of the London Dry gin it is based on. The coriander notes provide an additional spicy edge. In a tall glass filled with ice, add the gin, orange juice and soda. Stir gently and garnish with orange slice.
