TCL’s televisions can differ by market, especially between UK/Europe and the models that appear in the US and Australia. This year we gather that the European and UK versions of the C835 will be technically identical (the previous C825 had a key difference in the UK), while Australia got to meet the new range first, with the C835 range officially available from 1 June 2022. TCL is a Chinese electronics company. It has been in the TV business since 2002, when it first started making TVs in partnership with Thomson. Since then, TCL has brought some of the most advanced features to TVs, such as QLED and Mini LED displays, HDR technology, Google TV,etc. We had very few problems achieving a spectacular picture quality from the TCL C835, whether streaming 4K HDR from its own Google apps or playing via HDMI from an AppleTV 4K or UHD Blu-ray player. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. Pretty much everything about the TCL 65C845K up to this point has been a case of a TV punching well above its price weight – and happily this trend continues with its picture quality.

The results of this combination of brightness and contrast contribute to far and away the most cinematic and high-end feeling image I’ve seen from a UK TCL TV, and actually the most aggressive HDR-friendly image I’ve seen from any TV at its price point. Below is a list of all of the core UHD models added to TCL’s line-up this year, along with some of the key specifications that set each one apart from its siblings. As with all other manufacturers, there’s a natural trade-off between pricing and the quality of the features list, so you might want to consider both your budget and what you’ll mostly be using the TV for (along with your broader set-up and surroundings) to help fine-tune the right choice. Easily access to the contents you love thanks to integrated hands-free voice control: you can talk directly to your TV.Featuring ONKYO speakers, you can enjoy immersive Dolby Atmos sound quality on TV or pass it to your TCL Sound Bar. The default Vivid mode, for instance, is a particularly bad offender when it comes to the crushed detail in dark scenes and distractingly overwrought colours. The Movie mode fixes the lost shadow detail issue impressively well but struggles with too much red in the mix and heavy amounts of greyness over dark scenes. The low-power mode, meanwhile, is just too dark to do HDR effectively.

Size Options Viewing angles are poor as we would expect from this type of VA panel with brightness, colour and gamma shift seen as soon as you move 30 degrees off-axis to the sides or get above or below the set. Room positioning is important to get the best from this TCL C735 and when watching directly onto the screen many of the issues are mitigated, giving the TV very good image quality at the price point. In this article, we'll take a look at what makes this particular TV so special and why you should consider buying one for your gaming setup!

The operating humidity shows the acceptable level of humidity, in which the display will function flawlessly. It sets a lower and an upper humidity level for safe operation and is measured in percentage. FreeSync works by syncing up your graphics card’s frame rate with the refresh rate of your monitor. This means that when you play games on a FreeSync-enabled panel, there’s no more screen tearing or stuttering, giving you an overall smoother experience. The C835 does also have an enhanced audio system, with a 2.1 Onkyo sound system using down-firing 3-way speakers, along with a built-in woofer also offering support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, along with Adaptive Sound. It also comes with all of the other compatibility and accessibility features of the C935 using the same Google TV platform but with the added option of a 55-inch model. While QLED means “Quantum Light Emitting Diodes“ which with the application of phosphorescent crystals gives bright and vibrant colors, improving the overall experience. The entirety of the 55-inch set is balanced on a base with 2 legs and is quite different from the stands you usually get with high end TVs. It thankfully comes fitted with a lot of ports which is amazing, as most manufacturers these days skimp on giving ports for multiple inputs. There are 4 HDMI ports of which 1 accommodates 4K at 144hz, 1 is 4K at 120hz and 2 accommodate 4K at 60hz meaning it can accommodate practically any current and last gen console and optimal performance levels. If you have multiple consoles that you play on along with your PC, you will not have to unplug any of the cables and instead can have all of them on the different access ports. Besides the HDMI ports there is also a LAN cable port, a digital output port, headphone- in port and 2 USB ports at 2.0, which we felt was a little out of sync and off-putting as everything else is up to date, so why not have USB ports at 3.0.

This chip helps improve contrast, clarity, colour and motion and also looks after the upscaling of lower-resolution content. HDR format support covers every base, with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision IQ as well as IMAX Enhanced all present and correct. Getting to know the specs of your TV is very important. This is a 4K ultra–HD QLED TV, which has a 144hz display with VRR which stands for “Variable Refresh Rate”. What VRR does is that it matches your TV refresh rate with your console frame rate for smooth flow of gameplay. You won’t find a traditional Filmmaker mode, as TCL has its own Film mode (or Movie mode, depending on your region!) with the same intention of delivering the picture as originally intended, along with a Sport mode. Everything from the C735K and above also comes with Calman Ready 3D LUT colour calibration, along with Adaptive Picture and an ambient sensor. On the audio front, all but the cheapest LCDs come with Dolby Atmos as standard, with both the QLED and Mini LED models using an Onkyo sound system – with the C835 and C935 adding an extra channel or two, along with Adaptive Sound tech (the latter also found on the C735).

As well as being a potential function of its direct LED lighting engine, the 65C845K’s chunkiness also provides space for a large rear-mounted subwoofer arrangement that forms part of an Onkyo-designed 2.1 speaker system. High Dynamic Range 10+ (HDR10+) is a dynamic range and colour standard developed by the UHD alliance. As of 2020, all HDR standards are being superseded by new technologies like HDR10+, which offer better contrast levels, brightness, and colour gamut for superior picture quality. Mostly all the content currently available on streaming services will be upgraded to this new standard in the coming years, so it's important that you get yourself one of these TVs if you want to be able to enjoy them at their full potential!

The Core Features

Besides this you also have FreeSync which further reduces the chances of tearing, HDR10+ which gives a more detailed picture and deeper color palette, Dolby Atmos for next gen sound and Google TV. There are also dedicated game modes that TCL has engineered which we will talk about later on. C735 Hardware The C635K also runs the AiPQ 2.0 processor and is able to hit a peak brightness of 500 nits, which is actually slightly higher than the 450 nits the C645K is rated at. Like the two 2022 models above, the C635K runs the Android TV operating system rather than Google TV. It would be great if everyone could see everything displayed on their phones or tablets at once on one big-screen TV! That's where TCL Multi-view comes in: It allows users to access up to 4 different devices at once through an HDMI connection or Miracast wireless connection with one touch of its remote control button! There are a couple of other seemingly untweakable areas where the 65C845K cedes some picture ground to the TV world’s most high-end Mini LED stars. First, the set’s tone mapping processing sometimes leaves some of the brightest white or colour areas looking so bleached of subtle shading and saturations that they no longer look like natural parts of the picture.

Picture Quality As both these technologies evolve, the difference between them became less and less discernable, eventually making the choice about your own preference rather than any specific benchmarks or performance metrics. C735 Specs As well as the standard Dynamic Colour support, the P735 also adds a Wide Colour Gamut to the mix, with the usual HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision line-up. It has a 60Hz native display with de-judder and Motion Clarity Pro, along with Micro Dimming and wide viewing angle. There’s also Dolby Atmos support with its two down-firing, full-range, but non-Onkyo speakers. OLED screens with their self-emissive pixels can deliver local contrast more effectively than any LED TV. The 65C845K’s 576 local dimming zones, however, manage to control where its blinding light goes much more successfully than you’d have thought possible for its price point.
