It starts at 220gsm, which is the thinnest paper you’ll come across in this grade. “Bleedproof” and “resistant to bleedthrough” are two completely different terms that mean very different things. Printing is the primary use for these sheets, which are typically manufactured with a small portion of cellulose and a large amount of filler. When calligraphy papers are not available, I always find parchment papers an excellent substitute. One of the few brands I trust for my set of parchment specialty papers is Southworth. The paper is bleed proof and the smooth surface finish gives you even colouring and line work. The paper is also acid free, so your artwork won’t yellow or fade over time.

5. Winsor & Newton Bleedproof Marker Paper Pad − Best Bleedproof MarkerPad

You can start a work of art by applying alcohol ink on a paper such as YUPO paper, or another brand of synthetic paper for alcohol ink. Wait for it to dry then add details with alcohol markers. Alcohol ink markers can also help with controlled blending and texture while a layer of alcohol ink is still drying. Once the alcohol ink is dry, other kinds of markers can be used. RUBBING ALCOHOL There are a number of pads that are gummed in a soft cover pad and are not suitable for use as a journal, as the work inside would be susceptible to damage if transported around. However the paper is of a high quality and is excellent for drawings intended for presentation or exhibition, as well as silk screen relief and etching prints. The heavier weights of paper (150gsm and heavier) are perfectly able to hold light washes in ink and watercolour. The colour of marker paper is important because it will affect the overall look of your project. Darker papers can make colours appear more muted, while brighter papers will make colours pop. Choose a marker paper that best suits the look you’re going for. Types of marker paper You’ll find with the cheaper brands the nibs are fibre tips (same as felt tips) and the ends will start to fray after a while instead of staying firm. The nibs are especially prone to fray on the cheap blending markers, especially when they start to dry out.

Wood-free - The paper is made from wood pulp, but the 'woody' components, including lignin, have been removed from the paper. Both copics won’t feather and copics won’t pierce through the paper when used on the former.
