One thing I have found but only with main crop in a dustbin is that if I earth up as the plants grow I do regularly get some good spuds quite near the top of the bin. We supply the best quality young plug plants from our nursery in Staffordshire delivered throughout England, Scotland and Wales. I have watered them diligently, so it is unlikely to be a shortage of water, and indeed the potatoes don't have that dryish texture that you get when potatoes have been very short of water. No idea what is going on inside the pots but the foliage is so dense and wide that it's difficult to see much of the pot at all - I'm hoping that's a good sign Planted 21st April so hopefully I'll know in a few weeks.

Some offer plants in P9 pots which are plants often less than 1 year old, many varieties of which can be more difficult to establish straight out in the garden.

Sometimes the pot design does differ if a different supplier is used but pot quality will not be compromised. The only drawback of growing in a bucket is watering is required at a much higher level than that of potatoes grown in the ground. Tip: We recommend the first option as it is the easiest and the whole family can get involved in the grand potato hunt. There are few ways people use to prepare their potatoes but none seem to have much of an effect on the eventual harvest, so choose whichever method you prefer. The simplest way is to add 2-3inches of compost to the base of the 30 ltr bucket, add seed potatoes and then cover with a good quality compost or better still well-rotted manure.
