For testing power consumption, we're going to focus on the total system results and put the Nvidia PCAT testing on hold as we'd like to investigate further on some claims regarding task scheduling. At 1440p the margins grow a little, here the 3080 Ti is 4% slower than the 3090. That said, it's now only 5% slower than the 6900 XT, but overall for rasterization performance the Radeon GPU was a little faster in our dozen game sample while offering more VRAM. oh man, the scalpers really effed up this whole generation for us. THIS CARD IS AMAZING. It wipes the floor with my 2080 Super, I can get more than twice the frames with RTX on or DLSS features. It's much faster at non-ray tracing loads as well, and MUCH smoother with no hitches anywhere. Also, NO COIL WHINE. This was a noticable problem with my 2080 as well and this card is SILENT apart from the fans, which are also much quieter even under load. The new GeForce RTX 3080 features more than double the CUDA core counts than the previous-generation, with over 8,704 CUDA cores, 68 RT cores, 272 tensor cores, 272 TMUs, and 96 ROPs. All this compute muscle is fed data by an updated memory setup consisting of 10 GB of 19 Gbps GDDR6X memory across a 320-bit wide memory interface, which works out to 760 GB/s of bandwidth; that's 70% higher than the previous generation. There are several other "next generation" bits, such as support for PCI-Express 4.0 x16 bus, the latest HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a connectivity, and AV1 video acceleration. NVIDIA built the GA102 over the 8 nm FFN process Samsung designed specially for NVIDIA.

That's probably not a great way to start this review, but there's no mystery to uncover here. Sometimes with these refreshes we get an odd mix of core and memory configurations, but in this instance the 3080 Ti has basically the same memory subsystem as the 3090 with a few less cores.

Then at 1440p the new 3080 Ti is 8% faster than the vanilla 3080 and 5% slower than the 3090, we're also looking at comparable performance with the 6900 XT. Axial-tech Fan Design has been tuned up with more fan blades and a reversed rotational direction for the center fan. It's also worth noting that all this data is fresh, after weeks upon weeks of testing we have all our benchmark data updated on the new Ryzen 9 5950X testbed, which has been configured with 32GB of dual-rank, dual-channel DDR4-3200 CL14 memory. Let's get into the results... Benchmarks Finally, at 4K the 3080 Ti was just 4% slower than the 3090 and 11% faster than the 3080 and 6% faster than the 6900 XT. So similar margins to what we've seen in the previous 3 titles, so let's move on to look at the 12 game average. Average Performance

Slapping so much metal on a card balloons weight to 1,410g. Such a figure is restrained by high-end GeForce standards, and the build quality enables Asus to do without any form of supporting arm. This side-on shot reveals that Asus uses heatsinks over all the hot-running components. The PCB actually ends right by the power connectors, so Asus, like Nvidia, also harnesses through-the heatsink cooling on the left-hand side. The Radeon GPUs enjoy of a big performance advantage in this game, for example, the 6900 XT is a massive 28% faster than the 3080 Ti.
