This box is a bit unusual: It isn’t an expansion to a specific season, but rather a narrative expansion for Kill Team. The box contains: The Strategic Phase, meanwhile, lets you spend any gathered Command Points on Strategic and Tactical Ploys. These faction-specific buffs grant temporary boosts to your units’ stats, such as the Death Korps of Kriegs’ ability to overcharge their lasguns for extra damage. Also supplied are a double-sided gaming board measuring 22” x 30” with a Sector Imperialis city layout on both sides, 6 x D6, 2 x D10, a clear plastic 12” range ruler, a selection of gaming tokens themed around the Adeptus Mechanicus and Genestealer Cults. The Rulebooks The Inquisitorial Agents Kill Team comprises seven new models, five of which can be built in two completely different ways – including an Interrogator, Questkeeper, Death World Veteran, Gun Servitor and more. Five Tempestus Scions and five Sisters of Silence provide Ancillary Support options to help them rat out the cult, with a transfer sheet for the latter. The Tyranids’ Feeder Tendrils, for instance, let the buggy aliens regain up to d3 wounds every time they incapacitate an enemy operative; and the Death Korps of Krieg’s infamous Trench Shovels grant light cover bonuses, as if the guardsmen were fighting in the trenches. Even more fun is their upgrade sprue, which houses enough parts to make 10 distinct kinds of operative, ranging from the relic-bearing Novitiate Pronatus to the Novitiate Exactor with her twin neural whips.

With the Space Marines securing the initiative, victory was in their grasp – though a few bad rolls and the Necrons could still seize the day. Space Marine Turn 5 At this point, I’d like to shout out to our in-house master of all things tabletop, Oberael, whose expertise waging miniaturised war with plastic soldiers helped hone some of the finer points of this review. His crash-course in waging skirmishes in the far future was invaluable to writing this review.

The Arbites

Meanwhile, the T’au Pathfinders build upon their existing kit with an upgrade sprue full of advanced technology. Prototype weapons, advanced bionics, and sophisticated drone control systems ensure they always have the right tool for any job. Two planetary conflicts are roaring into full flame this week, as the Inquisition attempts to quell a Chaos Cult in Kill Team and the Sons of Horus strive to retake their home planet from the Imperial Fists in the first campaign book for the new edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Unlike the kill teams in Into the Dark, both kill teams in this expansion aren’t entirely designed for Gallowdark games, and the Kasrkin kill team is the first appearance of a brand new unit for the 9th edition 40k Astra Militarum codex. The Hierotek kill team is really unique and is centered around powerful leaders – just beware that some of the Leader options for the kill team aren’t available in this box. Kill Team: Chalnath (out of production) Terrain Effect: Biophasic Leak, which means any model in 2″ of an induction diode cannot use invulnerable saves.

Bounty Hunters – when an enemy model is taken out of action, if score one Victory Point if a model from your Kill Team ends its move where the enemy died. The assembly guide, however, isn’t so good. I didn’t find the build instructions for either the Space Marines nor the Necrons to be all that clear. Whilst this is forgivable with the Space Marines, where it’s pretty obvious what goes where, with the fiddly and extremely fragile Flayed Ones, this doesn’t make the process of putting them together any easier. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Pariah Nexus Review – Playing the Gamepieces of the Ork Terrain from the Octarius set. This is very barebones stuff and gives you a pretty flat battlefield to play on. This is a nice feature designed to help support the ongoing narrative within a Kill Team which, for a lot of players, isn’t always just about fielding a handful of figures and playing a match. It supports the construction of lore and character within your squad – which is nice! Kaskrkin Kill Team (including new Guard transfers) – This is an entirely new set of sprues featuring the most highly trained soldiers in the Cadian army. At the other end of the Board, the ongoing melee between the Heavy Gunner and the remaining Flayer continued – but this time, the Flayer was successful, and killed the Heavy Gunner.
