Familiarity can breed contempt, they say. Well, Monitor Audio's Bronze BR2s prove how wrong ‘they' can be. The BR2's are not that fussy about room positioning, only reminder is: put them not to close in a corner. Isn't that possible: a pair of sponge bungs are included to reduce dominating bass. The 5 main speakers look very well positioned, maybe the sub would sound better if it wasn't in the corner, or if it has to go in the corner you could try it pointing in different directions to see if that helps. Are you eq'ing it with your AVR, and does your AVR give you any of the curve details?

Speaker Cables without Connectors: If you are not sure about the lenght or need longer than standard cables with plugs, choose this option. Class-leading drive units can only perform at their best if housed within a decent cabinet and here, once again, the Bronze range excels. The 21/15mm (baffle/cabinet) MDF construction features internal bracing for reduced vibration – giving cleaner, less distorted audio. Silver-plated, oxygen-free copper internal cable gives the highest quality current transfer, keeping the signal optimised. The speakers are perfect for the listen in to small to medium-sized rooms. The Bronze speaker can also be used with a subwoofer and they can be impressive as home cinema systems for larger rooms. These also offer by-amping, hence they are perfect for higher-end hi-fi systems and AV receivers. Top-to-bottom balance is very well realised, too. The presence region isn’t pushed for effect and, as a result, vocals don’t tend to have that in-your-lap projection you get with some speakers. Take Mavis Staples’ singing All In It Together – a powerful and passionate set of pipes if ever there was. The performance sounds startlingly bold, immediate and raw, but without being gratingly aggressive or edgy. Better still, Core Shift from Yello’s album Point probably shows the Bronze 500 at its big-hearted best, the speaker seeming to draw effortless horsepower from somewhere, spraying stereo effects across the room with gusto and launching dynamic swings that feel almost dangerous. Huge fun.

Fast forward almost two decades, 6th Bronze generation is about to come to the market and I found myself looking at the nicely discounted Bronze 2 of 5th generation. I really wanted to revisit the budget offering of this British manufacturer so two days later I took them out of the box, and two weeks later I bring you this review. Also i have listened them for about while and for comparison the jbl' speakers was brand new from the box with no extra time to settle. I even upgrade Yamaha's firmware and even perform factory reset but still no expected sound. I repeat bass and treble is on the max level. I have no room to play less because sound is flat I even played with speakers positions.... Nothing changed.
