This was shot at 1/4000 at ISO200 with the XF-50-140F2.8. I’ve converted it to JPG and used the Chrome film simulation with no lifting of shadows or editing. Excuse the lens flare but I didn’t have my hood on for the test. Metz 44 AF-2 (TTL and HSS): This taller, slightly more powerful Speedlight from Metz has rear curtain sync capability, as well as HSS etc. It takes 4 AA size batteries. To use the radio features, hold down the Sync button and then twist the dial when the antennae icon flashes.

I tried to test outdoors with HSS into the sun and this gives you an indication of how underpowered the flash would be for true HSS work outdoors. In reality, this is not what it’s designed for and I think it would be unfair to have these expectations of it.

Key Features:

For the small Godox flashes, I would get the TT350 over the V350, even if they were the same price, for the simplicity of Eneloops (no special chargers, etc). Godox TT350F is fully compatible with Fujifilm’s through-the-lens (TTL) metering for automatic exposure control and supports HSS. TTL flash metering greatly simplifies the process of using off-camera flashes, especially when multiple units are involved, while high-speed sync enables the use of flash at shutter speeds up to 1/8,000 second. Godox TT350F is without a doubt one of, if not the best budget-friendly flash for Fuji cameras on the market right now. Per the spec sheets, you can get over 500 full power pops with the V350F vs. 210 with 2xAA NiMH batteries in the TT350F. The spec sheets also claim the V350F max recycle time is 1.7 seconds vs. 2.2 seconds max for the TT350F.

Nissin Di700: This is the flagship speedlight in the Nissin range. It has a 2.4 ghz transceiver built-in and does all the things a Speedlight should do. Nissin MG10: Is a high-powered hammerhead flash gun that requires a commander to trigger it. It’s not a hot-shoe-mounted flash but would partner well with the Di700.Please downgrade the flash power output. If the flash is in TTL mode, please try to change it to M mode(a preflash is needed in TTL mode). This table only lists the tested camera models, not all Fuji cameras. For the compatibility of other camera models, a self-test is recommended. Press < MODE> Mode Selection Button and three flash modes will display on the LCD panel one by one with each pressing. There are some errors occurred during the upgrading process. Please using the correct firmware upgrade method.

Set both flashes to the same channel and group. This allows them to automatically match power when you make a change. When the shutter button is fully pressed, the flash will fire a preflash that the camera will use to calculate exposure and flash output the instant before the photo is taken.

Godox TT350F: HSS and TTL for Fuji cameras

I have a passion for beautiful photography and I will go to great lengths to create wonderful light. I don’t leave things to chance in my work and I love directing the moment. Godox lists 0.1-2.2 seconds recycle for this unit, but in my tests, this isn’t quite accurate. From the moment of pushing the fire button to the moment the ready light came on was somewhere between 3 and 4 seconds for me. I’m using Eneloop Pro NiMH batteries, which have reduced recycle times in every other flash I have used. Using standard alkaline batteries increased the recycle time to nearly 6 seconds. But, considering there are only two AA batteries recycling the flash, this is still respectable. Not great if you’re in a pit of journalists, but quite usable for a portrait session." If you own an X100F or X100T, you can use all the flash functionality (HSS, TTL and rear curtain sync), but as a master unit, HSS is not available.
