Another famous name with strong connections with Llanrwst was the late, great all-round entertainer Gari Williams.Originally from Llansannan, Gari moved with his family to Llanrwst and grew up there.Sadly, Gari ( original name Emyr ) was taken from us all too soon at the age of only 44 and at the very height of his success and popularity.

Gladys left school aged 14 years. Church as an integral part of Gladys's childhood, attending the local Methodist Church. During the Queen’s Coronation tour of the area in 1953 Rhos schools assembled outside St Paul’s Church in Colwyn Bay. Sadly it rained that day. There is a story about nobility travelling from London to Ruthin by Train to see Mrs Cornwallis-West (Patsy). The person in question left the train at Rhewl and travelled to Ruthin Castle by coach with the curtains drawn. It was rumoured to be Edward VII although some say it was a local resident who just happened to look like him! When John lived at Galchog, Llanfwrog as a young boy, he learned that if the wind was blowing in the right direction, he was able to hear the progress of the morning train roaring over Nant Clwyd Bridge.
