A huge amount of information can be shown on the Garmin’s main map screen thanks to the detailed options and pop-out side bar, with everything from upcoming traffic, petrol stations, weather, trip data, elevation, group ride information, turns list and even a music player. To access it, just touch the icon at the bottom right of the screen. You can also touch on the bottom right panel to show direction, fuel range, temperature, time, or many other choices when you’re not on a route, along with arrival time, time to destination, distance etc when navigating. Another thing to bear in mind, is that a helmet in say size Medium from one Manufacturer may fit completely differently to a Medium from another Manufacturer. Therefore we would always recommend travelling to a dealer to try a number of different brands to get the perfect fit for your head shape. Visual route planner: Plan a custom route on the device, or use the Tread® app with a compatible smartphone. When selecting between the two the question I’d ask would be if the new features the Zumo XT2 offers are something you are interested in, would use, and are willing to spend the time to learn. If you don’t like change the Zumo XT is there, and has a very comparable screen, but with the menus and mangers you already know.

Reliability was a problem with the last Garmin I reviewed, and I’m disappointed to see that some petrol stations listed on the Zumo XT2 still turn out to be long out of use (even completely different buildings in some cases) when I arrive at them. Local Spots - Find local places to visit and exciting activities to try near your current location with local spot recommendations. Alerts can be audible, though if they’re turning off music that you have playing through your intercom, they can get frustratingly frequent, particularly in city centres. I’m unable to compare the two directly, but I did get my hands on an original XT to give a rough idea of the differences….Does the Zumo XT come with power charging connection to an electricity source, i.e. charging not whist connected to the bike, or whilst connected to homecomputer? Bluetooth® Connectivity - Hear turn-by-turn directions or hands-free calling from your compatible smartphone through a connected helmet or headset. The Garmin zumo XT2 displays three distinct and different types of Garmin maps; Garmin street-level road maps (City Navigator), off-road topo maps and Birdseye Satellite Imagery maps. I do not know if my unit was unusually harshly treated to result in this damage, or is this a weakness these connectors suffer from? What I do know is that my bike is meant for enduro and as such, will be bashed around a bit. I expect Garmin to have designed this unit to hold up to such use considering it is marketed to adventure riders. During the support case chat, I mentioned that the replacement of the cable is not the end of the story for me. I am refering to the elephant in the room: the installation cost!
