A story called Akari and Pikachu's Birthday is featured in the final volume of How I Became a Pokémon Card. Pikachu build up electricity in their cheek sacs while they sleep. They’re also very curious—you’ll often see one playing at our research camp. Due to the color palette used at the start of Pokémon Yellow, Pikachu has red cheeks (in the Game Boy Color) or pink cheeks (in the Super Game Boy).
