They are each other's perfect match, and I adore their relationship. I'm so glad everything ended up the way it did.

Callum and Aida's story Brutal Prince was an explosive ride and the glimpses of Nessa made me super excited to read her book! It read like a high school drama yet these damn kids are supposed to be getting prepared for a mafia world. Their already established friendship could’ve been a great catalyst for romance to ensue but instead were fobbed off with a love triangle. Which made no sense at all. We already knew who the couple were. The Heir is my first read from Sophie Lark, and I can tell I've been missing out! Her writing is AMAZING! It has an almost cinematic quality to it that drew me in immediately. The way every detail is described in such a rich and effortless manner made me feel like I was experiencing everything as if I was actually there! Sophie is interested in a variety of hobbies, from attending comedy shows live to body building and hiking. She loves hanging out with her kids and her husband. The ideal day for this writer would be going to Harry Potter World with the kids, going for an evening of dancing with her husband, and then settling down to relax with a book in hand and a huge bag of salt and vinegar flavored potato chips.

The host of secondary characters already have me drawn in. I have theories galore, couples I’ve put together in my had , and characters I already need stories for. Overall, this book is a well-paced mafia romance centering around the second-generation characters from the Brutal Birthrights series. One doesn’t have to read that to enjoy Kingmakers but it would definitely complete the experience if it were read prior. After an incident at school that leaves Anna heartbroken, Dean, Leo's cousin and archenemy swoops in and tries to keep them apart and have Anna all to himself. The characters were great. Leo is the charming, world-at-his-feet hero, but Anna really sold it for me. I really just liked her whole aesthetic and being a mafia queen, claiming that heir role within the Polish mafia. They really are the perfect Mafia King and Queen, and I want to see them rule their empire. No of course not😃 After that he watched her pleasure herself through the camera he placed in her room. I don’t think my girl knew that, she never mentioned she knew it if I’m right so wtf? Like wtf? Pls don’t, pls. Don’t. That made me very uncomfortable I’m sorry 😭

Aside from all of that, the book was boring. The first one was more entertaining and believable than this one.

Also, I'm not Polish, but some of the sentences used in the book seemed a bit off, hopefully a Polish speaker can confirm. he is a brooding, polish, grumpy blondie with A LOT of tattoos, she is a sunshine ballerina who brings out the best of him 🫠💘 The Heir is the first book to a series that is set in Kingmakers, an exclusive and very secretive college for mafia children. To echo Sophie Lark herself, it’s like Hogwarts for mafia children but without the magic. This book introduces us to Leo and Anna, both heirs to influential crime syndicates in Chicago. They grew up together and have been best friends all their life. As they are both thrown into an unknown environment, their relationship dynamics begin to change as new feelings start to bubble to the surface. However, before they can both confront their growing feelings for each other, their relationship is thrown a wrench in the form of Dean. I don’t expect my sister home for several hours, so when I open the door to our flat and spot her school bag on the floor, I’m confused and surprised. Even the house with its historically ambiguous decor and old books musty smells of fairytales, not to mention the enchanted garden.

The villain of the story was more interesting than the two of them but even by the end of it, I didn’t care for him. Start the Kingmakers series and learn how the Mafia trains the next heirs to be accountants, spies and more from all over the world. And get a little romance and steam while you're at it.i've never been a huge fan of the kidnapping trope but i must say that sophie has done it so well. nothing intimate happened up until 50% of the book and thank god for that because with this trope it’s necessary to build up their relationship The Kingmakers setting that Sophie Lark crea

Anna, Miko & Nessa's oldest child, is narrated by Chloe Ryan. She's a new to me narrator and I think she really captured Anna's personality. She's tough, but also has a hidden tender side that endeared her to me.

I loved their push and pull relationship, it was so realistic how emotionless Miko was towards Nessa at first, she really was his revenge. I'm so used to this trope but most of the time the Hero instantly starts feeling guilty or soft towards the Heroine, depriving me of the hate-fueled chemistry between couples but in this book I was served ENEMIES-TO -LOVERS excellence. I loved the way Miko slowly progressed with his feelings for Nessa, how he faced the wrath of his men to protect her, and ultimately worked with Callum who he hated and wanted to kill, to prove his devotion and loyalty to Nessa in her families eyes. I was a corpse when I met you, Nessa,” he says. “No breath. No heart. No life. I felt nothing. I cared about nothing. Then I saw you, and you woke me up inside. I was such a fool at first. I was so numb that I thought that spark must be hatred. If I was a normal person, I would have realized it was love. Love at first sight. From the second I laid eyes on you.”
