The watch uses a Japanese Miyota quartz movement which is accurate and reliable. Other features of the watch include its 100m water resistance, date display, and chronograph functions. Now, the main question: are Bulova watches good and worth purchasing? Yes, they are good and worthwile investments. Why? Last up we have another great watch from the popular Marine Star collection. Another one of the best Bulova watches available, the 98B203 has this larger 43mm design with some great detailing with the coin edged bezel. As it typical of the Marine Star series, the watch has a 100m water resistance rating. As for the movement, you guessed it, another Japanese Miyota. So is Bulova a good watch brand? The Marine Star collection are definitely a fine example of their craftsmanship. And considering the valuation of Bulova watches that have gone through numerous innovations and quality assurances, buyers will receive an impeccable price-quality ratio that only a few can match. However, many customers have found the basic Miyota quartz movements to be below-par, considering the overall quality of Bulova itself. Thus, the lower-end wristwatches, which, obviously, cost significantly less than others, are not as appreciated.

The watch uses an automatic self-winding movement, a Japanese Miyota automatic. As with the previous watch is has a simple 30m water resistance rating. The Bulova watches quality shows itself again in this model.

Besides the previously mentioned five collections and notable models, Bulova has emphasized honoring famous former timepieces in its Archive Series. The Swiss-origin Accu-Swiss watches employ ETA and Sellita automatic and quartz movements, whereas affordable watches come with movements produced by Miyota.

So, concluding the review – Bulova watches are of good quality. For the luxurious aesthetics of Bulova’s wristwatches, there’s enough quality to last for years to come. Like others coming from Bulova, the massive casing of this model combined with brown leather straps, enhance the appearance of the watch. I’ve had some hands-on experience with this Bulova watch recently and I have to say I was really impressed with it. This colouring makes the watch look very luxurious, the two tone gold and silver blends well with this deep blue dial.Figure 5 shows the movement after removing the oscillating weight. The plastic movement holder (500-710) is also visible. This will be removed after dealing with the hands and dial. I also removed the winding stem (figure 6) by pressing in on the setting lever and gently pulling the stem. The location for pressing on the setting lever was clipped from the pic, but it’s a standard setup. Bulova Oceanographer, a vintage dive collection from the 1970s, has been remodeled for today’s demands. The “Devil Diver” watches are ISO-certified to 200m (660ft) and feature the characteristic orange, blue-red, and green dials. There’s also the Crystal collection comprising diamond and Swarovski crystal watches. In fact, the diamonds in Bulova watches are real, and the timepieces look simply stunning. The product features Roman numeral hour markers and a skeletal display dial complemented by a luminous gold-tone hour, minute and second hands. Bulova made space history on August 2, 1971—during the Apollo 15 mission, a moon pilot chronograph, customised for lunar conditions by Bulova engineers, was worn on the moon. This model is a special edition replica of that very watch. They’ve updated it with their exclusive high-performance quartz movement that has a frequency of 262kHz for ultimate accuracy and precision timing. Other great features include the super-luminous markers and hands, the anti-reflective sapphire glass, tachymeter, and calendar.

With the spring out of the way I can now see the ratchet sliding wheel (087-250). I remove this part along with the crown wheel (058-360). Figure 26 shows these parts. Ah – finally a picture that shows the setting lever release button I mentioned earlier! Pressing here allows the stem to be removed. I will leave the stem in place for now. Will get to it shortly. Figures 27 and 28 show the parts just removed. My favourite of these has to be the precisionist series, they were introduced by Bulova in 2010. It’s a new type of quartz watch with a higher frequency crystal, 262 144 Hz, that’s eight times the current industry standard of 32 768 Hz. They have an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per year and have a lovely smooth sweeping second hand, a feature lot of people looking for in high quality watches. The best thing about the wristwatch is that its design and physical appearance are incomparable to those of any other brand in the market. The only downside to the wristwatch is that it does not feature the tuning fork logo by Bulova due to the recent redesigns by the manufacturer. Self-winding mechanical movement
