The Corsair HS55 Stereo is the American brand’s latest excursion into the world of affordable gaming headsets. Do not leave the battery fully discharged for long periods. Battery life is maximized by keeping the battery in a partially charged state. As i said audio is subjective so you may not like the software integrated 7.1 audio. But to me it is fabulous. It's primarily a gaming headset, though, and it performs better in this regard. There's enough definition between the highs, mids, and lows to make out different sounds in-game, and that's key if you, like me, play a game that relies heavily on sound cues to signal danger. I play a lot of Hunt: Showdown, and I didn't feel like I was missing important cues in-game with the HS55 on.

The Corsair HS55 Wireless Core offers — or, tries to offer — a lot for a relatively low price. This wireless, over-ear gaming headset is one of a few that features dual-mode wireless connectivity, meaning it lets you connect to two devices (using 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.2) simultaneously. Note though, that it does not support simultaneous listening from both sources the way the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro does. Regardless, this is a feature we don’t often see in less-expensive headsets.Like when i was playing warzone 2 in a city, I could actually pinpoint the location of an enemy breaking a glass of an house 100 meters away from me. And you can easily decipher the distance of that enemy without any error. As for a story mode game you can feel immersed into the game. You can hear little sounds from the birds chirping to a rat moving through the grass. Unfortunately, the newer HS55 Wireless isn’t quite as solid when it comes to the low end. In games like Control and Cyberpunk 2077, I’ve noticed that explosions and other sounds that require that rumble for maximum effect just don’t have it – unlike the older HS55 Wireless Core, which delivers enough of it to give you just a bit of that body-shaking immersion. Those 50mm Neodymium audio drivers really do make games come alive, with every explosion or hit having a real robust sound. If there’s any criticism that we have with the performance of the Corsair HS55 Stereo, it is that the bass response can be a little strong. You might not hear it in your Discord or Facetime chat, but the problem is most notable with casual listening.

Thankfully, the headset has good stereo imaging, and important audio cues like footsteps cut through the mix very well. I was able to locate firefights in pre-match rounds of deathmatch by sound alone and even flank around enemies because I could hear them before I saw them. Even though I missed the extra clarity from the treble, I can’t fault the HS55 Wireless Core for putting me at a competitive disadvantage. The software’s built-in documentation explains how to use the headset’s features in greater detail. Now lets talk about the 7.1 system it has. Many people may say the virtual 7.1 surround sound is a gimmik. Go for a good quality stero headphone. But to me personally stereo feels a bit odd in games. The audio has no fill. But enabling 7.1 gives a huge advantage in games. One of the things the Corsair HS55 Wireless Core does go above and beyond with is its 2.4GHz wireless connectivity. It offers a 50-foot (or 15-meter) range, which is impressive for a mid-range gaming headset considering that others start to break up as soon as you step into the next room.Corsair has always had a reputation for creating clean-looking products, and the Corsair HS55 Stereo conforms to that ideal. My review sample was of the white and silver colour option, which gives the headset a modern look. There are bountiful reasons as to why a wireless gaming headset is a good decision. The most obvious being the freedom to get up and walk away from your desk at any time without dragging your PC tower off with you. A wired headset is hardly a hassle, but I'll admit it is nice to not have to keep taking my headset on and off every time I run off for a bathroom break or to grab a coffee between raid encounters. I've been testing a wired headset for the past few weeks, and so the Corsair's wire-free functionality has been a bit of a blessing. In general, more affordable gaming headsets aren’t expected to sound amazing; but I’m pleased to report the Corsair HS55 Stereo sounds pretty good.

Use the volume control/EQ select wheel to adjust volume up or down. In addition, pressing the volume wheel cycles through four audio EQ presets: Standard, Bass Boost, Movie Theater, and FPS Competition. CHARGING Flip-up microphone to mute. How do you control the Corsair HS55 SURROUND?

If troubleshooting sound problems doesn’t work, try uninstalling and re-installing the Corsair audio device drivers and iCUE: REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT GUARANTEE: We will either repair your device within the promised time or give a replacement FREE OF COST. Technically the headset supports Corsair’s iCUE software, but there’s little reason to ever use it for this headset, or at least use it more than once. The only options it offers are the ability to update the firmware and pair the headset with the wireless dongle if it somehow becomes unpaired. It’s a shame, because even a basic EQ would probably go a long way toward fixing the headset’s sound quality issues. As it stands, I would recommend opening iCUE at least once to update the firmware on the headset and dongle. Battery Life of the Corsair HS55 Wireless Core With it comes an eye-catching silver and white colourway, some plush memory foam padding, and 50mm drivers that should offer some decent all-round audio on a vast range of devices – from your PS5 to a Nintendo Switch and PC. We also appreciate the attempt to deliver digital surround sound. Though this headset sounds more intimate rather than expansive like a proper surround sound, it’s great in terms of spatial audio. You can hear the different individual elements around you, whether it’s the wind going from right to left or a battle going on around you. Still, don’t expect a wide soundstage, as it doesn’t feel very spacious, limiting its immersiveness.
