I will say that I love the idea of "everything in moderation" that the first book introduces, though it's a shame it relied on that lazy, ever-so-slightly offensive "island of native cannibals" trope to get there. Other than an outdated incident with “savage cannibals” the story stands the test of time well and is worth the read. I can't help comparing this book to the excellent 1971 Disney movie version(one of my favorite movies!
