Anyway, this lens still softens at close focusing when shot wide open, but if any of you have ever read the original X100 manual you will know that it’s actually stated as a feature for soft focus portraits. After shooting Nikon and canon and also other Fuji cameras with all kinds of lenses and sizes i finally thought it would be a nice addition for me and something that might inspire me yet again in a way i had missed for a while. Its rangefinder’esque look and feel makes you think of Leica, and the silent shutter and small size makes it ideal for many street photographers around the world. To see what each film could do I tried to shoot Kodak Ektachrome E100 and Fuji Provia 100F in a variety of lighting conditions. E6 slide film is known to have limited latitude compared to colour negative films. As such it is more common to shoot slide film in subdued light where there is less contrast. Personally I love hard light such as direct sunlight so I put the films to the test. Spoiler alert

The Voigtlander 35mm f1.2 ASPH lens can focus to 0.5 meters but a Leica film camera rangefinder only works to 0.7m. That means if you don’t concentrate you can have the lens set to 0.5m-0.69m and the camera rangefinder set to 0.7m and it will mis-focus. Easily done during fast paced model photography. An incredible new feature on the Fujifilm X100F is the small EVF window within the OVF mode that was introduced with the Fujifilm X100T, which can now can show the ENTIRE 100% view of the image (not just the zoomed in center portion). You can select auto ISO by scrolling all the way past the high ISO settings, and there you will find the 3 Auto ISO settings. The menu system, flash menu and general operation of the Fujifilm X100F is exactly like the X-Pro2. It’s really great that Fujifilm finally found a consistent platform across cameras, and it makes you feel right at home when you have multiple camera models. When you talk about the X100 series, there’s no getting around it the industrial design – it’s the thing that initially got so many photographers looking in the direction of the second digital coming of Fujifilm. The Fujifilm X100F is no different. However they have done a lot to streamline the design and make it akin the X-Pro2. When you look at the lines of the camera there is so much of a resemblance that it really looks like a smaller and more refined X-Pro2.

The defining feature of the X100 series: its hybrid viewfinder. This, along with the small body, large sensor and fixed focal length lens, is core to its shooting experience and its appeal.Last week I bought a Nikon D500 and I was about to buy a fast 24mm Prime. My good friend who manages our local camera store suggested the X100F as it was in the same price range as a Prime. ... Done! (We had discussed this option since the first X100.) Material wise its still an all metal housing and lens. The silver argent coating is a little different from its predecessors. Its a little bit more shiny, and it looks more refined. Less plastic’y. Smooth gradation reproduction with superb depth, thanks to bias-free, brilliant highlights and excellent highlight-to-shadow gradation linearity. The X100 series has been a longtime favorite of mine since I first bought the X100S in 2015, and with each review and comparison we have performed on the successive models, my appreciation has continued to grow. I like them because they offer a nice blend of compactness, quality, and intuitive controls—a distinctive mix that I have rarely found elsewhere.
