She became known as the Wampus Cat and is said to roam Appalachia alone, wreaking violent havoc against other animals and frightening humans everywhere she goes. The real story about the reason for the inhabitants abandoning the town is not clear but there are several stories around this. The shadows and rustles of forests are natural fodder for fear, especially if you’re not used to them, but among those who know, the Appalachians are another beast entirely. Like with her longer tales Eat the Rich and Church her dark dark sense of humour is present, making her stories really creepy and plausible. One of the rare horror movies beloved by both critics and horror fans (it currently has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), it features some truly frightening scenes, and introduced the world to one of the all-time great horror protagonists.This is one of those tales where you want to scream at the main characters to stop and turn around but of course it's no use. It's skin hung loose off of it's emaciated and thin frame, like a raccoon, bits of matted fur and dirt and mud clung to its legs like a disease. I grew up in Southern Appalachia (app-uh-latch-uh), in Western North Carolina 30 minutes outside of the town of Asheville. It's so hard to explain the outline of the plot it something you'll have to read for yourself to know.In 1862, there were three major Civil War battles which were fought over different fronts on what is now known as the Maryland section that is along the Appalachian Mountain Trail. One night as they were asleep in their tent, they were woken up to the sound of rustling and odd noises coming from outside their tent. Around 3:00 am, the train approached the Bostian Bridge in Statesville, NC where the train plummeted into a nearby creek. The Bell Witch Hauntings began when John Bell, his wife Lucy Bell, and their children moved from North Carolina to present-day Adams, Tennessee. This town, Dudley town was built in the 18th century and was abandoned by the inhabitants in the 19th century with visible ruins being left behind.

The sparsely populated woods don't possess any energy that goes one way or the other, the ground doesn't seem to be alive like it is in Appalachia. The next evening, when he was relaxing by his fire, he was startled to discover a stranger standing close to his fuel.
