Probably the coolest tumbler ever made, the CIBI tumbler, now more commonly known as Blade Runner whisky glasses, are in fact a ‘Double Old fashion glass’ produced by Arnolfo di Cambio, founded in Tuscany, Italy in 1963.Born in Milan and graduated from the Polytechnic in 1951, Cini Boeri was immediately noticed by her design teacher Giò Ponti, who encouraged her to paint. It’s not about “attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion”, it’s about the prestigious Cibi collection dedicated to the emblematic crystal glass and much more. Products by Arnolfo di Cambio have earned a range of prizes and awards, and they are enjoying their rightful place as one of Italy’s leading glass manufacturers. Designed by the famous Italian designer Cini Boeri, the CIBI collection is characterized by the X-shaped body, which not only gives movement but also allows an easy and firm grip. The glass was designed by renowned Italian designer Cini Boeri in 1973, and is produced by Arnolfo di Cambio, one of Italy’s most respected glass makers.

The moody Blade Runner’s glass wasn’t just a prop, it was a hand-made crystal glass, mouth-blown by artisans at boutique Italian company, Arnolfo di Cambio. This beautiful hand blown crystal whisky glass features in the original 1982 Blade Runner movie, and is famously used by Rick Deckard to drink JW Black Label whisky. The Blade Runner whisky glass is made from hand blown crystal glass by the original Italian company since 1974.

In 1982, Ridley Scott’s visionary masterpiece Blade Runner premiered , forging a stylish, dark new cinematic template for what the future might look like. All original images: copyrighted to the original image maker and/or film company and are published under Fair Dealing. It was a commercially available, hand-made crystal, mouth-blown old fashioned tumbler that Ridley Scott chose to be used by Deckard in the movie.
