They are an eclectic bunch but have fascinating stories to tell and I adored the way the novel was put together to encompass heartbreak and joy, endings and beginnings, in the real life mess that doesn't guarantee soppy endings, but amongst the tears offers hope too. With its tightly plotted twists Dog Days is an exhilarating, at times even vertiginous ride... The mix of human passion and canine good sense works triumphantly.. Ed Stourton, author of Diary of a Dog Walker George has lost his wife and is very angry about it. He’s raging at the world and everything in it - the last thing he wants to be bothered with is the dog Ellen bought before she died. Dan, a counsellor with his own issues, is struggling with his attraction to unsettling new client, Atticus. And Lizzie is living in a women’s refuge with her son, but there’s aspects of her story she isn’t telling anybody. Despite the title, the dogs - Poppy, Fitz, Wolfie and Maud - aren’t a huge focus, although they are a thread running throughout. Followed by whispers of 'Is that really Olive and Mabel?' - not to mention the occasional Hollywood approach - the three of them pad around literary festivals, breakfast TV, live radio and even an appearance on Good Morning America. Slightly bemused by their fame, Andrew not only pitches up in the iconic Mastermind chair, but makes a return to sports broadcasting to find that it has become rather strange as well. But, always, his pair of utterly endearing, endlessly optimistic and eternally hungry canine companions show just how precious our time is. Especially our time spent in the devoted company of dogs. The characters are riddled with flaws and might be considered "unlikeable" by most. However, I found that it made the characters seem more relatable, authentic and "real". The characters were both complex and vibrant. The book navigated some extremely difficult topics with grace and insight. I found the book to be both heart-warming and heart-wrenching at times. It felt like a reflection of how real life is; things don't always turn out the way you hope.

This fourth installment is an excellent addition to the other three stories. Greg's true character really comes out in this novel as he discovers who he is, learns to balance everything that's going on, and takes an easy-going approach to life. The illustrations are well-done and only add to the book's humor. Easy to read and witty but full of pathos and sadness, this tightly plotted tale will bring you joy. BEST I chose the age 13 year old because those people are the ones who play a lot of video games. Those people don't like to go outside in summer and be with their family. Those people just feel it's better to be inside. Those people think its the best to stay inside playing video games. That is why I think it is for 13 year old.Wonderful journey of three complicated characters and the dogs that saw them through their individual journeys' This hilariously sharp comic book is written from the perspective of 11 year-old Greg, whose canny jokes and observations have become a series of popular books. I would recommend this book to 3rd graders only because the cheesy humor Jeff Kinney, the author, puts in. Also I would want to let others know that this book has some great value because it's very common for kids to be lazy during the summer, like Greg, but it does show that Greg put in an effort of trying to do something productive while having fun. Dark, somber and heavy with atmosphere, each tale is weighted with characters who are truly difficult to like quite often as they seem to indulge in their weaknesses. From a man who took his wife for granted until her death to the therapist who broke all sense of propriety to become involved with a patient to the woman who has been beaten down completely, there are few lighthearted moments where one would expect a dog to shine.
